We have quite a few up here, this one was on the window sill of the North lodge cottage of the castle. It takes the nuts from the feeder. Totally unbothered, brilliant to see so close.

However we have been notified the greys are coming, been seen quite near :( I cannot understand why there is not some sort of defence put in place when grey are entering a known red area :no:

cracking pictures Millet! good job that Goshawk of your's wasn't loose at the time, reckon the squirrel would have given him a dusting :laugh:....

:laugh: Gengoid would of turned tail and off into the distance never to be seen again if he ever seen one of those little fellow's.. :laugh:

Liverpool and the woods near mine is crawling with them!

Fantastic shot, i love taking pictures but av only got a decent film camera, that dosnt do the best quality pictures!

They is load's of differant digi camera's on the market Patrick ..and some of them are not that expensive but still take good picture's..much easier than messing about with the older 35mm film camera's.. :thumbs: .

I managed to get these last year on Brownsea Island

Nice shot of a female red,Pat and possibly pregnant. Judging by the thickness of her coat, was the pic taken early in the year? If this pick had been taken in summer then the coat would have been sleak and shiny and she would have had 'Tufts'.

 

Millet - Reds can be without tufts when they have their winter coat. I don't think there are any greys on Brownsea island. Brownsea and the Isle of White are the only two places in England, south of Anglsey where there are Reds.

The pic of the Red you took in northumberland. It wasn't around the Lambley area was by any chance?

Cheer's for the info.. :thumbs: ..the picture i took was around 40 mile north of Lambley as the crow flies..that is if the Lambley you mean is near to haltwhistle..
