CarraghsGem 92
i dont know why people dump them, they should have done their research before buying a reptile that when fully grown could probably bite your hand off and needs a tank bigger than a bathtub, id like one myself but need to do more research on their dietary requirements as ive seen stunted examples suffering from poor nutrition
Coyotehunter 689
Nice find are they common where you are? Yes they are quite often seen this time of the year , all the females are looking for sandy ground to lay their eggs your so lucky to see them in the wild Theres been a few snapping turtles spotted/captured in the UK,one was a quite large specimen Are you in Ontario Coyotehunter? Yes, i'm in South Western Ontario not far from the USA border and Detriot , i've seen some huge turtles , bigger than bin lids , but this girl was relatively small ( around a foot to 14" ) they are aggressive buggers though , and i can't imagine it tickles if they sink thier beaks into you
mackem 30,717
Saw this fella in Zamboanga, caught in a gill-net,the future didnt look rosy for him as they are eaten then the shells turned into guitars or polished and the plates used for hair-cimbs or jewellery, the eggs are for sale in Zambo market often enough, the local name is pawikan, its a hawksbill. I was off the coast of Morocco in the med two or three months ago when I went past a turtle, about the size of a bin-lid,maybe a tad larger,I think it was a green turtle?Totally unperturbed as I passed it at about 4 or 5 knots. Malt 379
Nice pictures. The closest I ever got to a wild turtle was swimming next to a huge, wild loggerhead turtle in Zante. I was quite brave swimming behind & to the left of it, until it turned it's massive head round and looked me square in the eye!
