labrador attacks 3yr old

Recommended Posts

Labs bite no more than any other dog!!! When a dog bites its for a reason usually some stupid human is behind it

Not true, labs and collies statistically have involved with more incidents than other breeds.

The dangerous dogs are the ones highlighted in the press.

any breed of dog will attack a child, they attack because they know a child is below them in a pack set up.Thats why they dont need a reason to go at a child, most dogs that come up against adult, will try to threat+warn then bite. Thats why kids get bitten more than adults,if you think really about any little child got no chance against a terrier 18lb to a 50-60lb norm size dog, dogs+kids dont mix . Iwas brough up with bull breeds, but there were always in a kennel+run, away from us when kids . But what happened will prob happen again, people dont learn .!!

if people just watch a pattern,in hot weather dogs will be more prone to snap at you,if they are being annoyed.a load of screaming kids jumping about, sun baking down on the dog.f**k when im to hot i get cranky and bad tempered.

If the parents kept their kids under control and to respect and keep a distant until the owner gave permission to approach the dog then there would be less attacks. Its down to parental control and responsible dog ownership.

Shocked it wasn't labelled a pitbull type...I remember when we was really young how much we used too wind up our neighbours stafford...can't remember how just remember the dog barking like mad...was lucky it didn't bite us but dog had such a lovely nature...people just need to know they are animals and can't be trusted 100% so never leave kids with them. My mutt was brought up with my little sister and regularly have her friends over who don't have dogs so fuss over him...wouldn't dream of leaving the dog alone with any of em...get my sister every now n then just so he knows she's above him.

im not saying its the kids fault but in a lot of cases kids run up to strange dogs, i got bitten by my own collie because my sister-in-laws kid decided she was going to go into my van without permission, if i hadnt intervened my collie would have bitten the kid instead.

my collie is a working sheepdog, she cost me 800 in training alone, i dont want her to be easily handled by a stranger even if that stranger is a kid as she could be easily be stolen then. she is kept under control at all times unlike many kids these days

a lot of parents nowadays dont educate their kids on how to behave around strange dogs, they expect it to be all one way with the blame attached entirely on the dog owner, if a kid runs up to a dog on the lead and gets bitten its the dog owners fault.

ffs SOME parents should keep their kids on a lead

Problem with Labs is they look docile and cute. I get people just strolling up to mine to stroke him without asking. He doesn't like that and will growl or bark. He's a big muscular dog and they normally back off quickly when he does that. People can be really stupid with dogs and don't respect their boundaries, having said that I wouldn't let my dog off the lead near anyone else's kids and will keep an eye on him when he's playing with my daughter.

Once he bit me totally by accident, he was snapping at one of his toys on the bed and missed and bit my shin instead. The pain was unreal. Then again he carries a large brick around as one of his toys so it's a fair bet he's got strong jaws :icon_eek:
