RWS 54 It is about 14 foot pound energy in standard factor trim so should not suffer too much frombeing restriced down for British use... Could this be the future for springers? It has the same basic action as the 48 and 52 but it's set on a 'slideing sledge' that moves the action forward in the stock on the cocking stroke, then allows it to move back upon firing so the shooter feels no recoil. Full power versions are good for an easy 30 plus ft-lbs (.22) without over stressing the gun in any way The only down side (for some...) is they are pretty heavy. Lovely rifles though. DID JOHN WHISCOMBE NOT MAKE A RECOILESS SPRINGER YEARS AGO?IF I REMEMBER RIGHT YOU HAD TO COCK IT TWICE AS IT HAD TWO PISTONS THAT WERE OPPOSED TO EACH OTHER AND WHEN FIRED HURTLED TOWARD EACH OTHER AND IT WAS THE AIR BETWEEN THE TWO PISTONS THAT STOPPED THEM SMASHING TOGETHER.IT WAS ALSO AVAILABLE IN FAC. pianoman 3,584 Posted June 13, 2011 Report Share Posted June 13, 2011 RWS Diana 54 is well known as the 54 AIRKING Mike. It's a fixed-barrel sidelever that's been around a good number of years now. I've done a bit of shooting with it and it's very nice all round. Air Arms TX200SR (=Semi Recoiless) was the best of the "Sliding-sledge" recoil dampening system the 54' features. That rifle was a real heavyweight beauty, alas no longer made by Air Arms. John Whiscombe did indeed hand-build-to-order a recoiless spring rifle with twin spring two-way pistons. Very effective, superbly accurate but, very expensive. Well over £1,000 per rifle. He still builds it I believe. Simon Quote Link to post
