kenneling

Recommended Posts

I have all 3 together, never a cross word . . . . that said the kennel is more a compound than a kennel and run. Its a massive shed with sofas in and a dog flap then approx 5M X 7M fenced area outside. So there's ample room for them to get out of each others way. TBH they all get fed raw out in the garden and i don't supervise them, they respect the hierachy of the pack and do not challenge it . . . . . the odd occasion they disagree its never a cause for concern.

Watchman if yoru worried about space . . send the pup over to me and i'll look after him for you! :whistling::tongue2:

iv got more than enough space but thanks anyway  its just nice for him to be in with something that will take care of him against an un-wanted visitor so to speak

Well the offers there WHEN you change your mind! :whistling: :whistling:

Oh and i wouldn't be unwanted . . . . the pup and the 'something" would love me!!! :toast: :toast:

Thats an accident waiting to happen, I value my dogs too much to risk one being killed.

I have a a dog kenneled by him self, his dam & sister in together as I have no more space. One thing I can't get my head round is folk kenneling a terriers/lurchers together. Two similar size dogs fighting is bad enough but terrier/lurcher = 1 dead terrier if it goes off

i have them like that for years now and havent had any problems it's just a matter of what dogs can be but together i know the collie greyhound dog cant be but with other dogs but he he grand with bitchs and the whippets never cause any problems but i am building a new pen to but the 3 terriers in together but i do have a feeling when the patterdale pup matures she might have to be pen alone or with the lakey dog

spot on  had dogs 25 years (lurchers, and other breeds) and it only takes 1 dog to have a(off day) and you are in the shit if they kick off. Reason because they carnt get away from each, other thats why.! Ive got a 10 month old bullxgrey Tod a big strong pup, he is 26in 75lb big bugger. My other lurcher is Bryn 1x collie grey 25in 60lb 4 in sep. They get on great (now) as Tod is still very puppy and likes to play with Bryn, Tod favourite game is called locking on to Bryn neck  lol. Now both are (kenneled + runs (separate), what norm happens is when Bryn had enough of playing the fox lol, he pisses of to his own kennel, and Tod norm goes back to is own kennel or looks for me to play with lol. Now this time next year Tod will be full mature, and if he ever did kick off with Bryn, he would do massive damage to Bryn  . And i thank god they are not together 24/7 because what could happen if Bryn (could) not geat away, if Tod had a (off day) .!!

My pup 12 months old loves that game as well grabbing other dogs by the neck, let her do it because she was young and only playing but now she bit older l have been telling her off for it.

Dont have my dogs in pens they have the run back and kennel each where they can go if there getting pissed off one another.

Made mistake few years ago by putting a new terrier a got in with a wee lucher bitch l had was up at 3 o clock in the morning trying break it up a lot damage done and mistake l would not do again.

And it the same line Tod is out of, and they very good bullxs thats why i had Tod, i thought if you going to have one get a good'un. Yes you right with this feckin Ban, but will all know its surprising what you can (bump) into when lamping rabbits .! If Tod turns out as good as Bryn as a lurcher, i will be very happy bloke

Hounds are bred to be pack animals, and have been for hundreds of years: lurchers, terriers etc can be completely different. They are dogs which work on their own: and although they'll pack together if you bring them up to hunt like that, their temperaments are not like a hound.

I would never kennel two dogs together full stop, and although all mine have free run of the house and garden when I'm at home, there are certain dogs which I kennel at night or if I go out. Yes, it is a matter of knowing your dogs' temperaments, but even if the dogs have a lot of space some dogs can cause problems. Neutered dogs and bitches will be generally less likely to cause problems. I'd never leave our entire males loose together if I go out: they all get on fine, but all it would take is for one bitch to be near her season, two dogs interested in her at the same time and it could kick off: unlikely, being that they all know their places in my pack, but possible if a young male decides he wants to move up the ladder. That is not a risk I'd want to take.

if any of my bitchs come into heat i am lucky enough to have a sister that lives around the corner that takes them for the time they are in season when i feed the dogs i stay with them until finished and then remove the bowls they all have their own kennel but they mostly sleep together and i never leave bones in the pen in my perfect world i would have all single pens but at the moment its not possible i could split the pen as they are huge but the way they are at the moment is a lot easier to keep them clean but i am going to connect another drainage shore to the existing 2 that i have in the pens then i can split the pens and seperate the terriers from the whippets.i suppose i do have to get my arse in gear and get it done but so far i havent had any problems thank god
