I had a client here this week who shot a few bucks.

I only captured a little on video.

He asked I wouldn't show his progress so I will honour his decision.(which is why i've not been posting).(that and the long hours).

But on the video I did take I had a very different camera angle from the shooter so captured some rare footage.

This is the strike.

These are the best stills seconds after the strike.

Good pics but tell me something John ,do you have a management plan at all because from what we see week after week you shoot beasts across the board with some youngsters in fine body weight being taken before their time ,or is it a case of so many deer about you shoot what you come across .Not a dig mate just curious .

All the land I shoot is left to me to decide what is taken. We also get many 6 point yearling heads so what can you leave they are all good.

Never has any animal been left to do better next year.

I do not work like that rather than shoot any beast in a given area. I also believe in taking a cross section of animals and did this before I went pro.

Animals in large arable areas range from month to month and are rarely seen in the same area year after year.

Trophy fees sort out the plan, most cannot or wont pay for the big lads so he is saved only because of the price on his head.

Right man in right place with enough cash and hes on the wall.

Yorkshire is plauged with dog men and they desimate a cull plan so its pointless.

I have been honest here answering an honest question, please respect this.

MONEY.....MONEY.....MONEY. :whistling:

Some one else with a degree, yes its about money I make my living from deer dying everyday. Aren't you the clever one. :gunsmilie:;)

No dead deer I might have to work in a factory or perhaps wash cars for a living. many of my clients wish they worked in my office. If charging people to do what they want to do and at the same time doing what the landowners want(reducing the deer) why is that wrong???????????????

Instead I guide clients by the 100 and do very well thanks.

regards John

I respect your honesty mate and thought you would do as you outlined .Cull plans and management schemes are fairy tales in my eyes too as i feel there is no such thing that is workable where roe are concerned.Everyone i know is hard on the bucks no matter what appears and still there are the same amount the following year.Management schemes would only work in an enclosed ,fenced area where ages were known and sex ratios worked out .Many claim to know what is about but the truth is far from that in reality .Territories are set up but broken as the rut arrives and larger bucks will depose a smaller and so on .I m fully with you in taking what you see [if the moneys right ,lol]

Luckily we dont have the dog men about us as you do but even without them a plan is in the main unworkable .

      Hello!
I'd love to learn more people's opinions on deer hunting using dogs, as it's a very controversial topic in the hunting world. I've only ever used dogs for grouse and waterfowl hunting, but many hunters also use for deer. I write a little hunting blog on the side for fun (this is not an ad, there is no ad/affiliate on the blog but let me know if I can't link!) and I really want to write about the dog hunting controversy.
What are your opinions? For or against, why, why not etc? No judgement, just trying to get the general hunting population's opinions!
      God Bless!

Trip last Saturday to West Sussex in that evil storm, flooded roads, crazy winds .
The usual warm welcome and off out to be dropped in a high seat.3o mins later saw a little white bum ,bins  up it's a  Roe buck Doe and fawn .
Shot the fawn ,nice size Doe and waited but the other  Doe didn't return to her fawn .Green out ,healthy gralloch .
Back to the Bothy, fawn in the chilled and bald bloke to local for a nice nosh.
5am already up ,tea and biscuits meet the other guests and out .Unsuccessful hour in a different seat and off on foot to see a massive buck 10m away. Took the heart shot ,he ran and dropped. This can't be right he was massive, this is a spiker.
Me tit, scope on 9 not 0 so at 10m he looked huge .Nice clean gralloch, and luckily the guide was with me as he was a fat boy to carry.
      Great weekend, good craic,great friends
