bull x maturing

just wondering when my dog pup is gonna learn to run properly...he was 8 months 3 days ago stands 24 inches floor to shoulder and still has trouble with running.he can do it in short bursts.but isnt much quicker than my terrier at the best of times...is it gonna click soon,or is there too much bull in him.i dont know the exact percentages. cheers jan

You can see that he still has no adult muscles, and shouldn't do until his skeleton has finished growing. That won't happen until he's a year old, at least. Then he has to build the muscle. I had a fairly short coupled dog similar to yours many years ago. He was still slow at 15 months, then gradually his speed increased and by the time he was 2 years old he was fairly flying. Give him time, and not too much fast galloping until he's mature.

some dogs show no interest in running until they older ,more so the heavy set bullxs i had a 40kg bullx that didnt run as a pup showed no interest,had the turning circle of a container truck ,but he turned out to be a superb dog.feed it decent grub and keep it excersised not run the f..k out of it and wait till its mature before testing it to the limit.

i carnt see that been fast enough for much myself, but it depends what you want to use it for..to be fare the lurchers i keep are totally different to yours, but by 8 months all of mine have been running flat out both dogs and bitchs, even the 1/4 bull i had.

cheers lads ill give him all the time he needs anyway.like i said was just curious as to why he cant be arsed to run...hes got a good turn on him and does put the effort in sometimes.has caught a few rabbits,..... those are nice dogs b.t.w
