wharrier 39
been reading lots of topics on beddy x whips lately and alot of people seem to put them down as a novelty type. why is this as this type has been going for many a year . people seem to say get a whippet r something in the region of 23 to 24 tts.but to me its what the person requires from the dog n type of land u run on and each type has its own place in my eyes .and why not get the type u want instead of something someone recomends surely u will have a better relationship with the type u want from the start Quote Link to post

martin 332
Some people just feel the need to slag anything that they don't have off it's as simple as that mate, and you'll have to get used to that on here. Quote Link to post
Rabbiting man 1,192
I like the 3/4 Greyhound 1/4 Collie x this cross works out a better dog for me for the line of work I do Quote Link to post
shepp 2,285
I can't help thinking that beddie whippets are a bit style over substance. Bedlingtons are not the most responsive of breeds, although I have one and she's great for bushing I can't help but wonder what she could add to a whippet that would compensate for the dilution of the raw speed. Neal 1,930
In some respects things have almost gone full circle: years ago someone would say, "I fancy a collie x greyhound x whippet x deerhound x bedlington because it will have the collie brains, the whippet agility etc." However, people found out that it often didn't work out the way they'd hoped and now people criticise a certain breed, cross-breed or type because of theories about what it will be deficient at eg saluki crosses are thick, deerhound crosses aren't agile, whippet crosses are too slow, collie crosses are too easily upset etc. In reality, although theory can help to a certain extent, you just have to go with what works for you, your temperament, your quarry and your terrain. 1 Quote Link to post
