airbourne 128
How many of you train your dogs to jump ? is it a must or not ? or does it just depend on what ground your running your dogs on. Quote Link to post
collie/grey 238
It's a must for me, fences everywhere around here, if the dogs didn't jump they wouldn't catch half of what they do, i'll be damned if im lifting a 23-26'' tts dog over every obstacle i come across! Quote Link to post
jacksbignose 8
Ask yourself why you wouldn't train a dog to jump! Unless you run your dog somewhere that jumping would be dangerous, I can't see a reason not to get it jumping. Most dogs when being worked will do it whether you want them to or not! Simoman 110
Whenever this question crops up I try to think of a valid reason NOT to teach a dog to jump... Quote Link to post
torchey 1,328
I nearly lost a dog through jumping a hedgerow on my ground, with an 7ft drop on the other side into a road :wallbash:there,s not a lot of fences on my ground just some dodgy hedgerows,so my next dog i didn,t want to jump...a big mistake when going on someone elses ground full of walls and fences, at 26 inches and pretty well built a bit of a nightmare..The puppy i,m bringing on now,,,,its back to jumping Quote Link to post
graham4877 1,181
Defo jumping mate, for me its not about the catching game , its walking and lifting a dog at every fence! My bitch will jump or go under if she can! Quote Link to post
