Good write up, good pics and a damn good haul Stunts.

That black dog (Bull), whats with the lower back leg strapping & blood, just a one off, or does his style of running cause him to cut up there?

Bosun11- Be fore that hunt took place we had ran Bull over some rough ground that had "lava rock" and tore his feet and stops up. We Tape him before we hunted that day an as you can see it worked ...very little lol.

Speedy the center dog does look like she has a heavy dose of Greyhound but in the pick below her litter brother Bull {black dog} is on the left. That bitch lays it out, she had just come off a litter of pups from that Laser dog and had ripped her chest muscle open in September making a slow comeback but looked like her old self yesterday.

No guns ever, unless a dog needs to be PTS in the field. Rab is you look in the pic above of Speedy and Lazer they have been bitten right threw the muzzels for thier troubles. Dogs take some stick some times sometimes not. But Bird is right A stag better be on the throat quick or there will be hell to pay a coyote can bite!

  • 3 weeks later...

I send Hammer, Stunt, and HH down a road that cuts thru some plow, towards some big compost piles. Its almost a sure thing to have coyotes. CC and I head in my rig to a parellel road about a mile to the west. We spot one ahead of them and let them know. As they are headed towards it, another gets up and crosses behind them... We watch them drop the dogs and see Hammers dogs gather it up. They drop off Stunt to gather them up, and turn around to look for the one that crossed behind them. The next thing we hear is we see him up ahead...no theres two...aww shit theres three, and one is headed east. They drop on another and this time HHs dogs gather it up. We haul ass around to the east side, but get there too late and see one cross ahead of us into some cows in another field. I decide to head into the field and see if we can find it. I haul ass down a narrow dike, and its a bit dicey as one side is a cement canal and the other side is about 7 foot drop off. The ground is greasy and we are snakin are way down the dike. CC is sure we are gonna be upside down soon, but we keep it right side up somehow. I see a spot I can drop the truck off into the field past the cows. I take the plunge and we land safe. We head out around the cows, but the grass is so tall we cant see the coyote. We make a big loop and CC is standing on the floorboard with his head out tryin to get extra elevation. He spots a coyote out ahead of us, but I cant see it. I go that way but we lose it. I keep going that way and in a few hundred yards he spots another. This time he crosses thru a spot were the grass is low enough for the dogs to see him also. I drop Bull, Lazer and Hoss. They are closing when he hits the tall grass, but he cant shake them. They push on with Lazer and Bull swapping sides tryin to keep sight of him. He turns and Lazer accelerates and rolls him. We head back to Hammers rig. They head back to get Stunt and have another coyote get up. Its haulin ass to the east, so we head for the east road again. They take a long drop but the dogs get off line and the coyote thinks it has escaped. As it comes over the hill we spot it and I send Speedy, T and Hurley. Hurley explodes out of the box but after 250yds Speedy has moved up along side her. They are flying and I know this coyote is in a bad way. It trys to juke a few times when they get up on it, but Speedy rolls it hard and then proceeds to put her head in its mouth... They get it stretched after Speedy gets her head loose, but its made them all bleed. Speedy has a blow hole for her efforts.

We all head out and go hit another field. Hammers rig is about 500 yards to the west of us as we drive parellel to the north thru the desert. Pretty quick they say they got one up in front between us and I tell CC that I will haze for them, but about the time the coyote comes into sight I notice two more even farther ahead. Hammer drops his dogs and they gather theres up. We pick out the big one and drop Lazer, Bull and Hoss. Lazer and Bull are exchanging the lead as they close in on the coyote and this time Bull accelerates after the first turn, and rolls the coyote. The coyote punches Lazer a blow hole and its bleeding pretty good. When its done, all the dogs are covered in blood. Looks pretty medival. Lazer and Speedy look like twins with blood bubbles coming out the top of their muzzles. We are about to call it a day when Stunt says he wants to go catch another as he has never caught seven in a day, so we head down the road to another field. We spot a pair out in the middle of the field. As we head in I swing west and Hammer swings east. As I come over the rise I can see on going straight north. Hammer has the same one spotted and barrels down on it. I tell them to drop early or they wont catch him before he gets to the north fence. They decide to just follow him up to the fence and try to drop over it instead. Hammer doesnt get slowed down in time and almost slides into the fence head on... :o He drops HHs dogs but his catch dog just cant get the coyote off his feet. He turns it several times before they go out of sight over a ridge and thats the end of it. We go around to get in the north field so they can get their dogs. I tell them to just head west and we will parellel them again. About a mile later they have another up and its headed right at us. We see it coming but it spots us and swings away and Hammer drops his dogs. CC and I been plannin on a battle royal all day, and I see this as our chance... :whistling: We lock it up and drop both sides...then I tell Hammer to drop his other side to...11 on 1 baby, it puts the cherry on the sundae for the day.

I woulda paid good money to see/hear Hammers truck when they seen our mob headed their way to... :censored:

Take care.
