Thinking about geting a Plummer terrier i have been for a while now it will mainly be for rating and just a dog if i go to any shows to take a long but i want try and start digging are these dog ok to go to ground or are they to big thanks?

plummer ratting dogs thats all and have never seen a good one yet but thats my apionion really but i would stay away really and get a boarder some thing like that

Patts,lakies,borders, russells will all work rat. Get one off digging stuff if you want to go digging with it. And theres some typey stuff that will win at shows to but thats just a bonus If it just for rats well get a plummer

Fox-stoper...if you get one from working lines then there isnt any reason why it wont serve you well. there are a few on here who do work them to ground [and many more who due to the bad name dont let others know they work them to ground and dont get involved in the negative banter on forums]

 

if you do want to think seriously about getting one then The European Plummer Terrier Forum and the Working Plummer Terrier Forum [at this moment in time the name could be misleading ] are two dedicated forums to the breed....join them and ask on there and you should be pointed in the right direction.

Toka is right in the fact you can get what you want in a plummer terrier but niether of those plummer sites allows digging pics so how there'll help you i don't know.

Thanks every one will a bitch be ok i fort of a patterdale before a plummer but i fort they might be abi hard because im 14 but i will be going with my cuzon and a guy we close with who does alot of digging

i work plummers and thay will do whot you wont them to i do moor rating tham most people dreem of and a bit of ground work 2or3 a month but thats my plummers and i no of a lot of plummers that do that but get on a plummer forum atb swag

get 2 patt's and a sick bay but work one at a time so thay dont bouth end up in there

Wouldn't call my bitch a digging bitch,she's a busher,ratter, a dog i can take anywhere for a spot of sport be it duck,poultry,pig,cattle,sheep pens,sheds,rearing units and no worries about her running amock.I can and do also have a dig with her and she's stuck to her task at game bird protection,she's a lot lighter in build than steve's dog and has her faults but who cares she gives me 100% all the time and she pleases me and imo job done.

day light ratting and ratting at threshing time.

ferreting companion

few odd bits.

But folks are right there not proper terriers,just terriers you can do more with than most can. :laugh:
