Ferreting Gives You A Bad Name!

Recommended Posts

Why is it that if you speak to land owners or others about obtaining permission to ferret on their land they automatically label you as a scaly

Yes people who own and work ferrets do come from various backgrounds but we aren’t all wrong urns as they put it!!!! :censored:

I enjoy a day out with my ferrets and because people see you out and about they always seem to think your up to no good :wallbash:

A comment I have had in the past is if you had a job you would not have to go out killing poor defenceless rabbits>> :censored:

I have a Job! And a good one I tell them! They just TUT at you and walk off. :feck:

So what do you do out there for a living :icon_redface:

I simply dont agree with your statement. no.gif

I have never been labelled anything by a landowner...... Some actually want to come out with the ferrets and see them work, same with the Lurcher.

It opens plenty of doors for me to various other activities..........

I also carry out ferreting on various land owned by the government, with written permission.....With no issues at all!!thumbs.gif

I very very very rarely have any issues with the public and I ferret a huge public park (I have permission from the council) and I also ferret on private grounds that have footpaths through, and like I said I rarely have any issues, infact I have had some come up and are just curious to what I am doing and we have a chat and they watch for a bit asking questions, I have even been asked by someone if they can buy a rabbit off of me, which instead I just gave them it for free.

You are 100% right, who cares what others think as long as you and the permission owner is happy thats all that matters.

i have had some proper abuse over the years up on the dales, especially around malham cove. on the other hand i have met some really nice people who were genuinely interested in what we were doing. you learn to talk to the nice ones and ignore the bad ones. you cant reason with an idiot.

I've never really been knocked back by famers or landowners for permission, only when there's someone else already got it and thats with dogs, ferrets or guns. Never really bothered with the general public either as most of my places are out of the way and most bunny huggers are little nerds who would probably avoid a confrontation with me out in the woods

only ever had a problem once, a couple walking thier dog on a sunday morning stopped and asked what we were doing, we were digging down when the ferret had backed one up. all we got was a gob full about being barbaric and cruelty to wild animals. they wasnt interestd in the half munched crops that stratched 20 yards into the field all the way up the hedge row or how much money they cost the landowner each year. they soon changed their attitude when i asked if they had permission to be walking a dog on his land :censored:
