Collie x.

Recommended Posts

I know this has been done, but i looked back and can't find it. I was hoping to hear from anyone who works / worked a collie x containing half collie or more, or a pure collie? Pictures would be great. Cheers, Jai.

Yappy, bites strangers, doesn't bother with rabbits near cover - its hardly a glowing endorsement is it ! :icon_redface:

mine isn,t yappy nor does she bark and certainly doesn,t bite, shes not nervy, timid or aggressive, in fact shes very steady for a pup her age.

as for the cover thing nine times out of ten any dogs not going to catch, saying that i,ve seen my pup watching these rabbits very closely and if they put their head down to start feeding she will make a dash for them and has been successful.

as for taking direction,a collie type will learn to work with you and respond very quickly, especially bushing and ferreting if time is taken in the training and entering.to me this is what working a dog is all about.jmo.

This dog's dam is a full Collie and it's sire is a tad over 1/4 so exact fraction's of that i'm not so sure :whistling: ,anyway's he's in his 1st season, doing things as they should just steady away at the moment, very atheltic, retrieves even over fences, gates has done well when ferreting, obedient and in over 30 years of keeping running dogs this chap has the drive and determination equal of any of them..next season will be the making of this dog...watch this space

The link shows him when he was younger. The photo here shows him in his bed this morning. He has a bit of arthritis from an old injury in one wrist so he's limping a bit this morning but he still loves going out and never limps 'til he gets home.

I just recieved a 4month old collie/grey/saluki/bull last night hopefull he will make it. Though i have had collie crosses before and all except one were excellent dogs one in particular was my old bitch called cindy and she was sometimes too smart for her own good and she would not bother with rabbits that were too close to cover and she went on to kill her last daytime hare at good age of 12 then took a bad injury and had to be retired my opinion is any lurcher with collie in the blood will be a very handy dog when out mooching time and effort you cant go wrong
