Malt 379
There was a few videos of working Pharaoh hounds on here a while back. I think they work them in packs on rabbits... Quote Link to post

But same go's as in using any stud. Is it a good worker, what type of quarry does it take, what are you looking out of using this breed of dog to name a few. But at the end o the day its your decision on what you use. But i would recommend seeing whatever stud you use work with your own eye's before committing to it. riohog 5,907
think you got to ask yourself , what is it going to add to your lurchers ? think mybe nothing, if they had some special qualities people would be using them ,,,,but they dont Quote Link to post

Borat 8
They tend to "open up", as in bark alot when chasing quarry.. Not ideal for Lamping etc.. Quote Link to post
tdavepat 8
I would agree with a lot of the answers here. Why would you even consider using a breed that you know nothing about as a stud? To breed a decent litter takes months, years of research, and only after that when the right stud and bitch come along. They should compliment each other individually and fill the gaps in ability that each has. Not wanting to get in an arguement over this, nor do I want to be appear to have you suck eggs, but have you got takers for the litter or do you just want to try something out and watch your pups find their way into the dog pounds. Lennard 10
Don't do it unless you want to do a lot of training. I had one for 13 years. In a way it was a very fast and athletic beagle. Uses nose and makes noise. Is normally used in packs. In their native countries you see hunters that get them relatively obedient though. In the sense that they release them in an area and the dogs bring them what they catch. Not good for slip-run-come back work. But for ferreting I can see a use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvYQ9y_tm_8&feature=related Also...is the pharao you could use working? If it is a show dog, not bred to hunt or to be obedient for 30 years that might make a big difference. L Quote Link to post
