Bosun11 537
In my eyes there should be nowt wrong with showing your dogs. IF shows are staged for the right reasons, to help fund working dog clubs (rescues etc) and so folk can get out and meet and greet friends, old and new, during the long summer months AND lets not forget we all love to look at our working dogs (though it does make me laugh when some try to deny this!!) and some are run as charity events. As for judging, yes it always should be the four legged things in the ring that are judged on. I'll hold my hand up, i've taken many a dog 'in' for other folk, usually my mates, who'll stand bemoning the standard of the classes with thier own cracking working dog on the end of a lead, too 'macho' to take it in and when the class comes up refuse to take the fecker in! Well gim'me it, i'll take it in!! It may win the class, it may win the show, then again it might be booted out BUT above all else it's a 'real worker', I wouldn't put anything else in, AND it's only a pound to what should be the right type of show. For anyone on here who moans at show dogs in working dog shows, get off yer fecking arses and put your workers in, YOU attended the show, nine times out of ten with a worker on the end of a lead.... If you want to see workers, then show workers!
weasle 1,119
If any one took my dog into a ring, it defiantly wouldn't show, and would prob ally slip its collar to come back to me.I would also want to know how it got there in the first place, because i wouldnt have taken it.

"Earth!" 503
some judges may like the dog but not the owner.Sadly from some shows iv been too its very clear that some judges pick the owner rather then the best WORKING dog how can anyone pick THE BEST 'WORKING' dog without seeing the said dog/bitch work?? This is the reason i wont judge a show.. some, although well marked up,mean nothing after TLC/a good lay up as we know.

Well earth if its a lurcher class you take a glance at the person on the lead, the more camo clothing, the better the dog is at working. For terriers you need a perfectly striped dog,the owner should be wearing, fell boots the newer and shinyer the better, moleskin trousers, checked shirt, and of course a waistcoat. gonetoearth 5,144
i don't show me dogs but thought id come on here a bore every one else about not showing them instead , whilst not wearing , toe to toe camo gear , but i do go to shows so i can see who does show there dogs so i can post on here , not that am really interested but just thought id go on about it just so you knew i do go but don't show so now you all know OK , and if i did ever take a dog it would not go in no matter how may people asked me so there , all them pounds going to Charity's and terrier rescue , and hunt benefits no chance id Rather just stand and watch and that , and judges yeh judges
Terryorr 27
I was over at the E.D.R.D. show on Sunday in England and my mate was one of the judges as he done at a show in England last year. I have been told that he done a thorough and honest job and had a hell of an eye for a decent terrier and has been ask back again. He did not know one terrier or owner from another and maybe this is the way a judge should be selected in future. Just my opinion.
