stealthy1 3,964
It was a lovely evening, so I invited the Mrs to go for a walk in a medow not far from where we live, we were walking hand in hand, staring into each other eyes as couples do, and then I felt a wieght on my left shoulder, it was my HW100T, and if you believe that hand in hand cobblers, then your softer than my Mrs is My mobile rang at around dinner time, it was the govenor of a blind school about 20 mile from where we live, they have a large woodland behind the school, with a bit of a medow, wildlife pond, fenced off so the lodgers dont topple in The whole place is geared up for blind people to learn to cope with being blind, more so for those that have had sight, but lost it, the trauma of losing your sight must be a terrible burden, no matter how tough you may think you are, most of the lodgers as they call the folk that live there are fine, but you get the odd one thats not coping very well with just losing their sight, there seems to be two distinct types, those that have never been able to see, and those that have had sight, but lost it, through desease or through and accident. Its an interesting place to walk round, on the trees they have thick ribbons, each ribbon has a brail discription of the tree, the name of the tree, and roughly how old it is, its so that the lodgers can feel the bark, then read the ribbon, the idea of the school is to train folk to live as full a life as possible, and to develop their other senses, they have a large veg garden where all the lodgers are encoraged to work in, the idea being that they will be able to identifiy all the common veg, so they can learn to cook without help from others, and regain their indipendence Which is no mean task Anyway, the school breaks up every now and then, like schools do, and thats when things get done, like mantainance on the grounds, bits of tree felling, paths are leveled, and made as trip free as possible, and thats where I come in The school is privately run, its not sponsored by the goverment, its all run on grants, and they get paid for results like any other school, so as good a place as it is, they dont have a lot of money to spare. As you can imagine, the rabbits love the place, when the lodgers are out and about, the rabbits dont run off, I think they know that they wont be caught, until I turn up, the only camo you need is a white stick thats not my joke, it was one of the lodgers I had a quick walk round to see where the hotspots were, their not over keen on me using fenns for obious reasons, snares are the main attack, but the quietness of a PCP, and the instant results are a bonus here, I normally take around 40 to 50 rabbits from here, and that seems to keep them in check and stops the paths being dug up, and the veg in the veg garden are left in one peice, its funny, but some of the lodgers can here the rabbits chewing the grass, and thumping when they walk past them, anyway I'm starting to write more than I was going to, so, I ended up with two rabbits with the HW, and set around a hundred snares, they will be lifted Satarday, and the lodgers will return on Sunday, the rabbits will be reduced, the paths will be filled and leveled, and everything will be hunky dory! heres a pic of the two that I whacked while I was setting the snares atb stealthy. 6 Quote Link to post

Cheers ST, Its strange, but you can tell the new lodgers from the old, the new ones have no ability to navigate their surroundings, and seem a little unhappy deep down, buy the folk that have been there a couple of terms seem to forget they're blind, its as if they can hear and smell pictures if you know what I mean, and distance, I suppose the bigger the open space, the more distorted the sound, but a couple of days there makes you aware of how well off we are Bill.
