JackReid 35
Alright guys how is everyone? Just got through a few weeks of deadlines at Uni so came back home for the weekend. Went out Friday afternoon for a shoot but it was stupidly windy and there wasnt anything about really. So yesterday was a nice relief as it was really still, no wind whatsoever. Weatherman said it was going to piss it down in the evening so I thought I wouldnt risk it, and would go out that afternoon and evening also if it didnt rain haha! Punched some paper and went for a walk around and there was a few bunnies about but no opportunities came out of it apart from sending pellet over the head of a big rabbit amongst loads of small bunnies. Before I went back to the car I decided I would ahve one more go o nthe targets at 30+ meters. It was so hot I had to get my jacket off. However I started to fire off my shots and they were all over the place. The way I holster my gun into my shoulder and the padding provided by the layers of clothes plays a really important part in firing for me. Its almost if I have to learn to shoot differently depending on how many layers Ive got on! Maybe for summer will have to make myself a custom top with some padding sewn into the shoulder! So anyway I went home for some food and to chill out, I waited until about 16.45 and could se some clouds forming so I headed to the permission, had a 5 minute paper punching session then spoke to the land owner for a bit about the magpie thats causing havock in their songbird haven garden. Long story short I moved up a large hedgerow. One which you can go eitherside of and occasionally cut through the hedge itself. I spotted a rabbit about meters out and decided I would back up, and get on the opposite side of the hedgerow make my way up about 50 meters then poke myself out to hopefulyl see the rabbit and take him out. As usual it didnt goto plan, I encountered another rabbit on the opposite side of the hedgerow and missed the bugger. Checking to see if the original bunny was still there, I saw he wasnt. So I kept going up the hedgerow and i nthe distance saw a fair few rabbits running about. So I did the same and went the opposite side of the hedge until I was in shooting range. This time I was more careful, and at approximatley 40 meters I cut through the hedge so I was on the same side with them, I got onto my arse and shuffled forward, 2-3 small ones and a big one. If you can imagine I was sat looking forward with a bit of overgrowth to hide me, the first picture is as if Ii looked over my right shoulder, looking to the way I came from (if you get me?), the 2nd picture is my view looking forward. The big one must have thought something was up and mvoed towards the hedge, I thought I had lost him, but he stopped. I brought the gun up in the sat position, set magnification to 7x and adjusted parallex to 35-40ish meters as I esitmated it to be just over 35 meters. Two mildots hold over, steadied myself and let the HW95K fire straight and true and bang. The rabbit dropped like I havent seen in ages, was the most peaceful kill I've seen for awhile (thats because I havent had a big rabbit in ages for some reason). It didnt even kick and some of the slightly smallers ones were shocked by him dropping but werent too worried as they wouldnt ahve heard the shot - My guns running so quietly and smooth with age. However they were just out of sight in the hedge so isat it out for awhile but got impatient as the clouds got even more grey. The pellet landed about 1mm behind the eye and brought down the beast very peacefully, exiting on the otherside in the same place. I'm going to head out tonight so hopefully get a bit more before I head back for a few weeks to Bristol. Jack Quote Link to post
JackReid 35
This is the direction I was facing- by this point the beast had been slain. Quote Link to post

JackReid 35
Paced the rabbit out to 41 meters. Also note the posh scope lens covers I got. This scopes so sweet I would be gutte dif scratched the lens, and alot of scope covers are really tacky in function and appearnce but these Hawke ones are really great and werent too costy!
