Recommended Posts

Just to check, are you comparing this Savage with a Browning X-bolt?

Sorry if I was vague, yes I'm looking for a comparison between the savage and something like the browning x-bolt and if the price difference in waranted.

Thanks,

Mick.

No comaprison my friend. The Browning A & X Bolt rifles are superior , maybe the good $ to £ exchange, keep price good for Browning. :notworthy:

Savage make stick for walk, same quality with magtech rifle.

Clint, unfortunately you don't know the rifle in question and haven't bothered to check.

Mick, the two rifles in question are a LONG way from apples to apples.

The X-bolt is a sporting rifle, designed to shoot deer. The Savage 12 F/TR is a target rifle of sufficient quality to win a world championship. Hence there are many differences.

You say about shooting long range targets - there is no comparison. The Browning won't do it to any level, and the Savage will do it very well indeed.

You get a 30" heavy barrel capable generally of well under sub 0.5 MOA groups, a heavy, well bedded single shot action and a target trigger. None of those things comes with an X-bolt.

Target gun only...? go for the savage, the stock is good, trigger is also of a standard like any other after market trigger, so thats about 200 quid right there, it is also piller beded another 200 or so, And has a proven track record of being accurate, the only downside to the savage is it doesn't come with adj, cheek piece.... to make it more SHOOTER friendly.....

But that still wouldn't put me off...

you get what you pay for, plain and simple, both good rifles but at different tasks....

Snap.
