mattydski 560
I got mine from the neighbour who breeds for the police, amongst others. She has breeding stock of about 15, they are top dollar. I got mine at mates rates for £600? She doesn't advertise and is always sold out, we only got ours because someone was made redundant and couldn't afford the balance of payment.. And I needed one to sleep with the lurcher as protector and companion during the day. If you come to our house......or the neighbours...(shared drive).....The cacophony of noise from the animals is unbelievable. There is no doubt as to their intent. If you want to go in my neighbours house, you hoot the horn, and wait for them to come get you. Same as my own. You just wouldnt come in to my house with the noise and impression she gave you. The look in her eyes alone would put you off..... Put pic up of her. You've seen her teeth..........hers the rest of her! the last one just doesnt do her size justice. To be fair to the wife, she exercises her very well, and she is very fit. She will run properly, not like an unfit GSD. She shares the raw diet of the lurcher, so she has quality food. And eats whole raw rabbits as a snack! But, when she is relaxed, I trust her with my kids, without question.

albert64 1,882
the best i had was a german shepherd x bullmastiff big strong bitch that was totally trust worthy with the kids and loved her man work
Simoman 110
ive helped train a couple for protection work, near enough exactly the same as german shepard imo Must be some crap shepherds matey. 99.9% of Dobermanns don't have the drive or temperament to perform stable manwork or have the nerves to accept advanced training. I spent 13 years working for a friends company training manwork dogs and all the Dobermanns we had in were potlickers...........
bird 10,014
Depends on your definition of a "guard dog", if you require something to get territorial in the yard then a lot of breeds will perform the task, if you want something trainable and sociable too then I prefer a well bred Shepherd or rottie............Currently I have a Shepherd from imported stock looking after my house and kennels but when he passes i'll get a male rottie from European lines...... Spot on with the Rottie, as you say from good lines. A natural guard, very powerful dog, and one of the (most)powerful jaws of all dogs, plus they scare the shit out of most people.A male in this breed would be spot on, but would need a fair+ very firm hand.?? feck it i will stick with lurchers
willum 89
mine would be a good rotty a chap i know has 6 of them guarding his property and these are pure evil to strangers yet ive seen his children the youngest which is 6 go up get hold of the collar and walk it back to its pen. he had a dog that past away a couple of years ago that sired a litter the father to this litter was just over 15 stone but no fat on him and pure black. he kept 2 pup dogs back and both of these have had to have custom collars made as he cant get them big eough out fo shops. will try and get pics for ya . should be getting a bitch pup from 1 of these 2 sired litters. forgot to say ive had all 6 released upon me when i got out of my truck at his 1 day dont think ive run so fast and climb a tree so quick in all my life flash fecker got auto pens for the dogs and could see me coming down the drive so released the dogs on me not amused Edited March 29, 2010 by willum

willum 89
no he owns a building firm and has a large yard and a passion for the breed pal 3 guard the yard 1 does the house 1 guards the garden and 1 does the stable's. he bought a bitch so he could have a replacement for the old dog when he is gone but from what seemed like the old fella's legs could'nt keep him up so he bought a young dog to do the deeds but some how the old dog managed it and a year later so did the younger dog so kept 2 back then had a bitch returned thats how he has got so many. 15 st was what i was told mate all i knew he was huge and was a nasty fecker that chewed my truck tyres wing mirror and what ever else was in his way while trying to get ot you not an ounce of emotion when you tryed talking to him no stub wag or twitch in face just a look that said i will get you 1 day. willum 89
i dont care what anybody says a rottie an a doberman might look scary, but id rather face 1 a them than that black shepard that scares me they scare me too they carry sticks and slingshots. soz mate me grandad had 3 german shepards and a fecking bad attituded chiuahah it wasnt the 3 shepards you had to worry about it was the little fecker that ruled the roost and would come ahead of the pack when that attacked you knew you was in trouble as the shepards would then join in if it didnt they didnt .
