Last fling

Recommended Posts

My mates from Sheffield asked me if they could come down for a last fling at some rabbits on a couple of the large farms I do pest control on, so I thought why not. We started off in a small wooded area where I bolted 6 rabbits from a 6 holer last week and took about 8 or so from 2 warrens. We then moved on to a hedgerow that has needed doing for a while and took quite a few and only lost about 4 from hidden bolt holes. Amazingly we only encountered young in 2 of the warrens, unfortunate but the farmers/keepers need me to thin them out as they are a real problem around here.

We had the old bill stop to check us out, someone rang them and said we were hare coursing, bit hard to do with terriers I would say. Needless to say I will phone them next time out and give them prior notice to save hassle.

It was a couple of hours of catch up with old buddies and enjoyable too, we also came across a couple of new fox earths that I shall be keeping my eye on as well.

We finished up with 30 and a couple of small ones, a few less to munch on the crops I suppose.

I took a pic just before we did the last 2 warrens at the bottom of the lane on the roadside as posing for pics with a pile of rabbits on the roadside don't go down well with some.post-13613-126832471381_thumb.jpg

Good go.

Nice to see you get so many :victory:

Reckon we will have some good bags next season, I have just got loads more land to go at and its not been done for years. I can walk out of my door and be ferreting within a few seconds, I watch the rabbits out of my bedroom window grazing in the fields.

Its a bit different from when I lived in Sheffield, all I saw there were twockers and cars getting burned out on the school field.

No mate its not the place, its some of the arseholes that inhabit it, I would like to name some names, thieving scum, but I will sit cross legged and take a deep breath and humm.

I have lots of good friends there and 2 of my oldest kids and grandkids live there, so don't take it personally if you live there.

Yes you can through the smoke of burning cars, with the sweet smell of burning rubber and sound of the police sirens, makes me wonder why I left really.
