Rabbithunter 456
As above. The heating works, but cant get hot water. Before the hot water packed in completely. It was taking a fair while to get hot water any of the hot taps. Even when we got hot water running, it would often go cold. Then to get it hot again, we would need to knock the tap off, and run it again, either with the tap fully open, or slightly open. Any solutions? Cheers Edited February 20, 2010 by Rabbithunter

Rabbithunter 456
any idea how to sort the pressure mate?
mattydski 560
If it is pressure, then there will be a pressure gauge inside the bolier, and there will be a bypass line between the cold mains and the hot side of the boiler. (correct terminology???) You would open the valve until the pressure was correct, then close it again. What that pressure is, i'm not sure). If you open the front, and the pressure is low on the gauge, it could well be. come on plumbers?

smiffyuk2003 5
hi pal, i had same problem so got british gas out, basically my boiler is italian and not designed to run baths, sounds daft but true.. these kind of boilers only have a small heat exchange for your water, e.g mine heats 6lt per min, the best out there heats 35-40ltr per min. he basically told me to make sure to have heating on before i run water and open the tap fully then close it so its only running slowly.. this helps as you reduce the water flow, i.e getting more heat per ltr. another thing he said is that when you run your water it comes from the pipes in the ground (usually frozen or very very cold) travells to your heat exchange practically frozen then straight through to your tap. so it does not have time to warm up properly.. hence the reason to have your boiler heating on first. so if its cold out your not gonna get hot water unless you have a english made bolier. hope this helps smiffy
chay 0
sounds like a divertor valve but depending on boiler could be a flow switch or diaphram washer could even just be a pin within the valve if its pressure related you probly wont get heating either
undisputed 1,664
Theres a valve you can turn in the combi to sort out the hot water
IanB 0
Also could be the small exchanger, I had similar problem awhile back...

tsteve9999 456
Either the divertor valve or flow valve, depending on which make of boiler it is, either one is expensive and not a DIY job. It may be the hot water thermistor (about 10 quid and easily changed by yourself as a rule) but it's rare for them to give out. Tom
Airgunner2010 1
colse the flow vavle a bit and see if it heats up a bit
