pattstaff 157
Had a situation a few years back when a young dog that had been dug a few times came out looking bemused.I thought the dog had walked out from the stuff so put him on a lead.So we put another dog in and got a mark and dropped in to find the dog at what can only be described as like a U-Bend on a toilet filled with water, like a beaver dam entrance.Drained the water away and stuff was there,it was soaked, had to completely submerge to get to this part of the sett. 1 Quote Link to post

CorkyJohn 808
out with hounds a few yrs ago & they marked at base of a drystone wall. On breaking through the terrier was baying at a pool of water, it turned out the tube was like a u bend & the fox had to have went under water to get to the stop end 2 ft further on. Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I've bolted a couple from drains where you could hear the fox running up the tube in water before hitting the net...also had a young pup out last week, after checking earths all morning we came to a kicked out one holer in a dyke with very fresh signs so showed the dog and he went beserk to get in on the lead, however the entrance was half filled with water and looking in with the torch it went like this for about 3 foot before the tube rose up and was dry, we collared up the pup and let him off and he just didn't have the experience to put two and two together and go through the water, so we left it...I left another dog at home with more experience under it's belt and I'd have put money on us getting a result if we'd had him...but it all comes with experience...
