zini 1,939
Hi everybody and Ulverston Moocher, I’ve been out this morning for half hour with the R10 to check zero her and see if there was any vermin about on the permission. As usual she had held her zero and was smashing drawing pins at a lased 30 metres. I went down to the air field and there on the lights was a rook drying off after the rain. I didn’t want to spook it so I took the shot from about 35 metres away giving it 1 mil dot hold over and cracking it sock in the brain. You can see the pellet striking it in the brain if you look carefully. After that I went into the woods and waited near a warren to see if any bunnies would come out to play. Luckily a bunny popped out and sat under a bush at a good 45 metres away watching the world go by. I wasn’t sure if to take the shot at first as there were lots of branches in the trajectory’s path, but then figured if the FX pellet hit a branch it would deflect and miss the bunny cleanly not causing it ant injury, so I had nothing to loose. As you will see from the footage the R10 did its job again striking the bunny cleanly in the head knocking it over with pure clinical expertise. As you can see Moocher the R10 is a deadly bit of kit if used right and must be a serious choice and up there at the top of your list? Here is the link to the footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nuxodgTObw Si Quote Link to post

Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Zini. With all due respect, your R10 has been good to you, and you have been lucky enough not to suffer the problems a lot of other R10 owners have in the past. The R10 is without doubt a nice rifle, and you are getting excellent results with your particular R10, but are you SURE B.S.A. have sorted the problems mate. I know they were having good numbers sent back for upgrading and repairs. That's what put me off getting one, and why i opted for the HW100T in the end. "The R10 is a deadly bit of kit if used right" same as all rifles, but if they dont work right??..... Excellent footage and shooting. Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Bunny, I use a Tasco 6-24x50 mil dot scope, FX 16 grain .22 calibre pellets and a SAK silencer. If you want to upgrade the scope i reccommend a Nikko Stirling GameKing 4-12x44 AO mil dot. Dont fall into the trap of buying a Weihrauch silencer for the R10 mate as it doesnt make a ounce of difference and is still as loud as it is with a cheaper (£33) SAK fitted. I oen a HW100KT and have already done that experiment pal. I think its the air valve on the R10 when firing you hear and not the muzzle blast. The R10 doesnt have a filler valve cover mate so what i do with mine to keep it free of dirt is get some of them ear plugs that you get when you go on a plane, you know the spungee yellow ones and put one of them in the filler hole. It works a treat and keeps the valve in perfect condition. Make sure you get a set of high mounts too as the eye relief is better with high ones. zini 1,939
Hi Sweeney, If you are refuring to the other post mate you have answered your own question but your point is noted pal . I know they were having good numbers sent back for upgrading and repairs. Here is the news from the gunshop today. Anyone with a faulty mark 1 R10 can send it back to BSA and the problems will be fixed free of charge. Anyone sending their working mark 1 R10 to BSA for a service will automaticially get the upgrade for free. Anyone buying one from a shop now will get a mark 2, (upgraded version). BSA have a brilliant aftercare service. For me it doesnt matter what rifle Moocher buys as i have them both and shoot happily with them both. As i have already said both are brilliant rifles i just like my R10 better, but that is just a personal thing and nothing to do with the HW being a poorer rifle buddy. zini 1,939
Hi Moocher mate, Im glad i have been of help to you pal. as i have already said weather you get the HW100KT or the BSA R10 you wont be disappointed mate as they are both top quality rifles. I paid £599 for my R10 so I think that is a pretty fair price you have been quoted pal. Si Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Zini. No I was not refering to the other post mate. I was thinking, IF the MK 1's were still filtering through, there could still be problem rifles out there. But if the gun shop's are confident the Mk2's are now circulating, there should not be any problems. Just didnt want anyone to have problems with buying, or reccomending the R10. That's it.......simples Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Good point Sweeney mate, i see where you are coming from buddy Anyone buying a second hand R10 really should ask for the serial number first and give BSA a call to ensure that the gun is upgraded or they could be getting sold a mark 1 and encounter problem with it later on. When buying from a gun shop i would also ask to ensure that the rifle is the mark 2 and that its not old stock that they have not yet sent back to BSA to be upgraded.
