Foxgun Tom 75
It is illegal!! you could be charged with causing unecessary suffering you've already caught the rabbit and then you want drop it for the dog to chase!! you'ld be pushing your luck for a defence if caught? If your training a pup find a bit of land with some rabbits not too badly affected with myxi easy for a pup to catch! or take it out with an experienced dog it'll soon catch on!! Oooops rgds Swampy criminalning using a dog on a bolting rabbit is fine, it has a chance, but once caught by yourself, if then dropped for a dog, would be classed as inhumane, so yes, thats very illegal

coursing mad 5
i thought i would be legal because your giving the rabbit a second chance, it never going to get away when its in your hands least its got a small chance of getting away. just my view. tom. As FGT said you are prolonging the animals distress and as such it would be construed as cruelty. Respect the quarry! Best Regards Swampy freening
gnipper 6,844
I was under the impression its legal (although frowned upon) providing the rabbit is not enclosed and has a chance of getting away, same with a caged rat? If it were in an enclosure then it is classed as baiting? Personally i'd just let it chase the bolting rabbit.
