Jamie93 57
Hi all, I have a double bow back box from the ferretbox co and whenever I put my hob in it he constantly pants and sticks his tounge out of the holes. My jill doesn't do this. Any ideas why he doing this? Happy Hunting Jamie93 Quote Link to post
mushroom 14,247
First port of call whats the wood treated with??? With mine if I put them in the carry box some have a nibble at the wood and others don't so if your hob's chewing and not the jill it could be wood preservative. Just a thought. Kay 3,709
Typical of a hot ferret , they pant like a dog when there over heated wich brings me back to my point I think sometimes people think it has to be sunny for ferrets to secome to heath stroke , its worth pointing out it can & does occur anytime , if there to hot in there beds they scrape away any excess bedding, which they cant do in a carry box It might pay you to get one with the little square meshed window in it rather than just the drill holes , if theres a way of adapting the box you have with a jigsaw then i would do that all you need to do is get the ferret out & make sure its got a drink , might pay you to cary a small bottle of water just to douse the feret gently to reduce its temp when your out with it they come round quickly usually once they have cooled down Quote Link to post
Jamie93 57
I'm going to saw between the drill holes and put some mush over the hole that I used for their hutch. Thanks again Happy Hunting Jamie93 Quote Link to post

Thanks again Happy Hunting Jamie93 Thats what i would do , just allows a little bit more ventilation & will probably solve the issue , the only other time i have had a ferret pant like this is when there in season , but they did it all the time , not just in a carry box, so its probably the fact he was a little bit to hot Quote Link to post
The one 8,595
First thing i did when i got a new carrying box was drill more quarter inch holes in the front ,then i never had a problem with it and i carry four jills in it Quote Link to post
