Vast majority of vet's are crap, when it comes to ferrets. Look at what they did to Erin Go Bragh ..... Come to that, most vet's these days are pure f***ing vultures anyway. " We'll have to put him on a drip. " ? Just try asking exactly What " Drip ". What'll go through that 'Drip' and why. Nuff said. B*stards.

Allrounder: My first question would be; How in hell did ye ferret access this " Bad Meat "? They 'Latch Key' ferrets? Ye let them roam the neighbourhood on their own and pick up what they will? Sorry, but ye just don't make that clear, mate.

And what makes ye think this meat was " Bad "? How bad? In what way? Green rotten, eg. is one thing. 'Gone over' in the fridge can, to my mind, be quite another thing. I'm no scientist, but I personally suspect there's a greater danger in 'Gone off' processed meat than there is in some wild thing that's keeled over and started to decompose naturally. Wild mustalids will choose to have a munch on something long dead. What they won't do is get into your fridge and nick that forgotten chicken breast.

Anyway, in my own experiance, here's a couple of tips ~ Brace yeself. This isn't 'good news week' material:

1. If the ferret vomits what - forgive me, but - looks much like semen. Bad sign.

2. If it appears healthy and continues to eat, yet shits next to nothing? Bad sign.

3. If it does either or both of the above, then it's back legs go? Shoot it, for gods sake! Don't prolong it's misery by f***ing with a vulture.

I'm talking about Botlulism, mate. And no power on this earth is gonna save a ferret with Botulism. It causes a creeping paralysus, from the toes on up. Believe me; Niether you nor the ferret want to be there when it his the diaphragm :(

Come back in seven days and tell us how it panned out, eh? All the best, mate.

ferretlove one question if you cannot afford to be robbed by the local salesman sorry i mean vet does that rule you out of owning a ferret .that lad would have been £40 minimum in the vet..were i come from in glasgow i can show you scores of familys that don,t have that sort of money spare ..i have been ferreting 30 years and when i was young the last place a sick ferret was going was the vet ..sadly i came from one of these shit poor familys and going ferreting was my one great escape from it all ...sorry for the socialist salvo but it is a sad truth and being skint does not rule you out in my book from owning a ferret ,and don,t mention the rspca vet as mines resembled the american embassy in the fall of saigon people everywere and when you did get seen they were crap and gave you attitude for working a ferret ,power to the people :tongue4:

Could not agree more :clapper: Whatever happened to finding out about the animals you are interested in keeping before you actually get them. This includes feeding, housing, bedding and veterinary treatment. It dosen't matter where you live in the country, a flick through the yellow pages will give you numerous amounts of vets and a quick call to any number of them will tell you if they have experience or not with ferrets. Yes it is expensive to go to the vets but it goes hand in hand with owning an animal!
