quick silver,

any balistic tipped ammo is better than soft point much depends on weather you reload or use factory fodder another option is to go for 40 grain heads if you can find them or fifties if no balistic tipped is available then some of the light hollow point offering are quite explosive on inpact and wont exit if they hit bone.

Generally, they will still exit the fox though, but you definitely do reduce this.

With the hornet, the 35gr v-max rarely exits.

Like he said, you will commonly find the .223 ballistic tips do go right through the fox, even if you hit bone the odds are, bullet fragments or all of it will still go right through.

But on the whole they are the best bet for destruction and reduced onward bullet travel!:thumbs:

Depending upon how much work/investment you're prepared to put in there is another alternative. You can get swaging dies to make .22 bullets using fired .22RF brass for the jacket. This is obviously very thin and apparently results in dramatic terminal performance.

A lot of work to go to though.

I remember once hitting a fox in the chest front-on with the .308 at about 50 yrds.

The bullet didn't exit and when I picked it up by the tail, it was like picking up a plastic bag full of water.

That was either with a 125grn Nosler ballistic tip or a 150grn Samson soft point.
