Labour backbencher Emily Thornberry MP asked Gordon Brown to guarantee that the ban on hunting with dogs would not be repealed by his government. Mr Brown assured the house he fully supports the ban on hunting and warned the Tory leader that in pledging to repeal the legislation: “They [Conservatives] are making a terrible mistake and they will pay for it at the electionâ€. Mr Brown also ridiculed the proposal for a new quango to regulate fox hunting. The Hunting Act has overwhelming support from the public with a recent Ipsos-MORI poll showing 75 per cent of people support the ban on fox hunting and do not want to return to the cruelty of hunting with dogs. The League has launched a ‘Keep Cruelty History’ campaign to protect the Hunting Act. League Chief Executive Douglas Batchelor said: "The Prime Minister has simply voiced the thoughts of the overwhelming majority of the public who are disgusted at the thought of repealing an Act which would allow the cruelty and barbarism of hunting back into our countryside." If the hunting act is at all reviewed, chances are it will be for the worst for the average dogman. I dont think it matters if 75% of people in a poll support the ban . .for a start its only a few hundred people , couple of thousand tops . And even if it was 75% of the country , they mostly have no strong opinion but will answer when asked . . If you asked me if i like modern art , i will say no , but i couldnt care less about it ,would never come up in conversation. i think there are a couple of million pro hunt a couple of million anti hunt and 50+ million who couldnt care less ,but 75% would answer anti if asked. Its only us and the league who will vote solely on this topic. The rest of the country are going to vote labour out because of a list of political disasters to long to type ! THE TORIES WILL REPEAL FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON THE BAN CAME IN . . .CLASS WAR. Simple as that. .
