Edgar 1
Hi all. I have a question. What do you say if someone says your cruel or whatever for hunting? Do you just tell them to go away and mind their own buisness? or do you take the time to explain why you do what you are doing? even thought they probably wont listen? I usually try to explain to anyone why I am doing whatever it is. What are your views?

lurchergrrl 1,441
If they want an explanation giving them one politely is a good idea. If they're full of abuse or generally acting like a wanker I find it best to stay polite and go on my way - let them show themselves up really. Swearing at them or being a knob is only going to add fuel to their fire. And really, if they don't want to listen there's not point in wasting breath trying.

watchman 256
mostly try to have a civil conversation explaining the whys and wherefors of hunting, you can tell if your getting through by their general behaviour,if it turns into a one sided conversation on their part with little or no understanding of what im doing then they get the big "f**k OFF"

flint67 2
well if its a neutral who ,not knowing any of the facts has come down on the anti side of things . .maybe a workmate or neighbour then i would give a fair view of the pros of hunting . . . . .BUT IF ITS A PROPER IN YOUR FACE GOBBY ANTI !!! . . .i just love to antagonise them , love it love it love it. Like my profile says i couldnt care less what they think , and lets face it we are no more likely to change their minds than they are ours. To shout and be abusive is to fight them on their own ground . .they live for 7creaming matches , i always stay calm and quiet and let them build up a full head of steam , remember what it is they hate most and leave them with something that they will be fuming about hours later. My fav is . . "i really have to go now im so tired , i was out killing badgers last night and i have to go back tonight coz i only got 7, so i need a couple of hours sleep . . Bye bye. Back Stabbath 1
Most of my friends wouldn't be into hunting, but wouldn't be against it either (course we all were big against hunting when we were kids! ) I have some hunt inclined friends too, and one kinda anti hunting, but she wouldn't make an argument out of it, she kinda doesn't really understand it, like she asked me how do you know you won't catch something from eating a wild rabbit... So I explain it and justify it if she asks. I can understand people not wanting to kill cute things like rabbits, or any creature for that reason, some people just aren't naturally hunters. Like my mother for instance, but she doesn't mind me hunting for meat as long as she doesn't have to kill anything. I don't enjoy the actual ending the life of an animal, but it has to be done if you want meat, and I think its ok when you do it respectfully. I think this quote from the Lion King is a good one - 'we respect the antelope, even though we eat them, when we die our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass.' But anyway yeah, I wouldn't deal with crazy aggressive people giving me hassle, I wouldn't stoop to their level. Neither would I be a hunt mad aggressive person either, cos thats just the other end of the spectrum really isn't it... To be honest I've never had to deal with an aggressive anti-hunter person. I think I'd try and walk away though. I think both hunters and non hunters must have respect for each other and animals. If total respect could be achieved then I don't think there would be any problems.
