lofti 579
i finished work a little early today to go and do a bit of ferreting with runforyourlife off here on some new rabbiting permission we have just got, his dogs know the ferreting job in side out and are spot on at the game tip toeing round the warrens looking down the holes marking, and catching and pinning bolters. i took my fawn pup sarah who as never seen a feret before, i kept her close to me for the first 3 warrens and let her watch, after we netted up the 4th i let sarah off the lead knowing that she had no intrest in the ferrets, i was very happy to see her sitting and listening waiting for the bolt ,we got 3 rabbits out of that last warren and the novice pinned two of them as soon as they bolted . couldnt belive how fast the time went today and was glad we didnt have to use the shovel once. lofti. runforyourlife 361
look good sets there easy 2 night some nice dogs and yea got a good bag ask yea a Q do u gut your rabbits before heading home Yes iceman i gut all rabbits before carrying them. Rabbits that havent been gutted are nearly twice as heavy. Plus the quicker they are gutted the better it is for the meat, as a bust shit bag soon starts to smell and stains the meat....especailly as half of these rabbits were of to the butchers... Nice one loftie, credit to the cameraman for the good pics, and for making us laugh when he let my ferret kiss him under the chin with a hairy beard after it had just worked a warren!!! took a good few seconds to release him!! very funny to see. hahaha. runforyourlife 361
Far too easy holes! Looks good fun though! lol, The top picture was a 7 holer mate. We spent over 1hr 30mins on it! It went off the locator, 16ftplus, one of the hardest straight forward looking burrows i have ever ferreted, so my friend, looks are deceiving, as you will know... Cheers Russ. Quote Link to post
