woodga 170
Woodga with Typp and Boo with me, headed out for Boo's first 'proper' nights lamping this season. We stopped off at a field on the way to where we were going to warm up. His first and second rabbit he ran very well, he missed his third he also missed the fourth but got straight onto another rabbit from the same slip, this rabbit went into the hedge he lost his other two in, Woodga kept the rabbit in the beam though through the hedge and Boo found a way through, he pressured the rabbit so much in and out of the hedge he managed to catch it....hopefully this will be a good lesson to Boo, to not pull up at hedges and to still try when all hope looks lost! Typp only had 3 runs and pulled up lame, looks like he has somehow knocked or twisted just below his front wrist? Woodga said he would rest him for the next field......this is where Woodga shines above all others. Instead of waiting to see if Typp was any better the next field turned into several. Most people would have wanted to go home if their dog was injured instead Woodga lamped for me, we managed to get Boo some much needed practise on sitters, 3 of which he picked up from the seat. Woodga was just as enthusiastic for Boo as he would be for his own dog, and continued to lamp for him, which resulted in some absolutley blinding runs, some really long ones where Boo actually picked up pace rather than lagging. Watching him pressurise the rabbits into making mistakes, and perform some blinding twists and turns, was out of this world. In two and a half hours Boo had approx 36 runs, and hardly flagged stamina wise, out of this he caught an astounding 26 rabbits. Please excuse the photo quality as i just cannot take photo's in the dark very well. The end of night shot was taken in the back of the car when home as the camera decided to die on me after we had layed out the rabbits lovely and neatly whilst still out. Tonight was the night dreams are made of when taking out a young novice dog, especially when i had some concerns last season, he performed better than i ever could have imagined, and Woodga made it all possible. You are a true friend Colin, and one of the most selfless people i have ever met. Thank you from my heart. .x.x.x. this has been taken from moochers by me and added on here to show just how well this little dog has improved bearing in mind his bst catch before this was 6 rabbits well done little boo Edited September 23, 2009 by woodga Quote Link to post
