Stevie Ray Vaughan? Rory Gallagher? Jeff Beck? John McCaughlin? There'e just so many wonderful gittar players out there, I don't think you can say any one them is "The greatest". Your favourite yes, fair enough. That's a matter of taste. For me it's as much a mood thing as owt else. I have a DGG vinyl of Narcisco Yepes playing Vivaldi's Lute Concerto in G minor transcribed for flamenco guitar. There are times when that feels like the most brilliant piece of music in the known universe and times when it bores my ass off. I first heard Gilmour backing a singer by name of Sid Barratt. He was pretty good then! * Ric * given my age away. curses
Waz 4,293
Can anyone recommend a guitar tutorial for an absolute beginner, online would be great and free even better. Have had a go from books etc and always much better watching a guitarist rather than seeing it on a page.

There are some fantastic tutors on there and just about any song you can think of. One of my fav tutors is on www.justinguitar.com Tutors are a personal thing, even on the net, some you like others you cant stand The important thing with learning guitar is to realise you aint gonna be brilliant overnight. Lots of practice and lots of patience are needed, having said that its not as hard as some people think. Dont know what type of music youre into but try to play some of the easier stuff first,Oasis is fairly basic kind of stuff but decent music at the same time. All the best with it Gilmour is a bit spacey for me,very talented but not my kind of music.

A place where you can join up as a total newbie to guitar playing & wake up the next morning knowing it all! It works with hunting, apparently!
Kay 3,709
My lad taught himself from just playing stuff a few times & trying it out, he can read the tabs though , that helps a lot apparently

Ive had a look before and the most basic/beginner thing is way too advanced for me, I am so S**t its embarassing. Had this guitar 5 years or so, printed some tabs off and can pick a bit up like that, but looking for the basics of basics. Maybe ill & get a mag Undisputed. Might get inspired!
