woodga 170
well i was sitting in a hide waiting for a fox to come along out of some cover the lads were pushing through and i heard a comotion slightly behind me as i turned i saw a sparrow hawk in full flight in persuit of a very alarmed chaffinch well just as i thought the chaffy was a gonner it suddenly dipped and hit the top of a drystone wall .the sparrow hawk turned and landed in a nearby tree. Obviously intent on its meal lying in the grass at the base of the wall i showed myself and the hawk flew off i walked to where the chaffy had hit the wall and found the bird sitting up right it had just knocked the wind out of itself . I took the oppertunity to get a couple of pictures as the bird sat on my hand a few moments later it took off and flew away with no signs of its near death experiance bothering it at all that made my day one very lucky bird
