  1. cheers lucky. iv been thinking of joining but the nearest one to me is the devon one! would be worth the travel though! old nog, i hope you get afew replys to your post, but if you dont, get your dog collard up and a small shovel under your coat a get walking the hedge line, your bound to come across few 2-3 holers, if you think its to deep or big leave it, keep putting the miles in and in the end you will find one that you feel ok to try, you cant beat breaking through to your dog, it will only be a wasted season if you dont go, Cheers dave mac
  2. As a last resort and out of desparation.....is there anyone local to me (Dorset, Hampsire, Wiltshire) that would be good enough to let me tag along this winter? I dont know anyone else who digs and i dont want to or really know how to do it all on my own. My bitch will be ready to get out and go this season and im starting to feel it might be a wasted season! thanks

  6. the only holes i have found on his ground are rabbit holes and i have only seen a few mooching about, but farmer boy did see a few this spring during lambing, There are however gateway pipes. Thing is His farm is split into 2 seperate areas about a mile apart. The bit nearest home (literally 2 min walk!) is where he does his lambing and a large proportion is wet marshy land...and im pretty sure the RSPB have some sort of conservation rights blah blah blah. Its gets pretty wet here in the winter obviosuly but tere are plenty of drains. Will wet drains ever hold foxes?? I have be
  7. How many times did you get told 'NO!' before you finally managed to get some digging permission? I know the farmer down the road from me and he lets me over when i want ratting but i got a bitch that will be a good age to hopefully, fingers crossed, get working this year, The farmer near home though doesnt have any holes on his ground and doesnt communicate with other farmers do cant put the word out! Its starting to drive me mad!
  8. I always juts used some warm salt water when my dog gets bitten. Never had any problem with rat bites before using just salt water. Good luck and dont forget the camera!
  9. I have often wondered this! I know of one particular bunch of holes that were caved in years ago by cattle but then excavated by charles and this year there was a litter of cubs there. How do you think this would work then considering that the majority had been re-excavated by charles? Could be worth getting in touch with one of those countryside legal people!
  10. you dont half go on for someone who apprently cant stand the forums mate
  11. if there is a few of you why not set up your own area that would be the clever thing to do but i dont have to many mates....bit of a loner !

  15. was a bit of both....used a knife for the most of her body but got the rest off the legs, feet and gut by hand. Used scissors to tidy uo her feet and tail
  16. Finally managed to get round to giving the dog a good stripping today. I was unsure of how to do it and by chance ma saw a mate of hers at the shops who strips her terriers so come over to give me a crash course Here she is in her gorilla phase and this is her after an hour and half of stipping She was a bit cheesed off after being tugged about so wasnt wanting to stand still proper but she looks 100% better. Best get a nice red rosette at the hunt show tomorrow!!
  17. Just been looking on another forum (nothing terrier related) and someone was arguing the toss about fox dogs not needing good noses. Reason being an occupied earth is full of scent a dog with an average nose will find the quarry whatever. I would have to disagree with this myself as iv read about numerous dogs being entered in bigger earths before the quarry was found. What are your opinions? P.s the argument started after someone talking about using a plummer on Pigs back in the day
  18. good photos! 'yorky'....some expert he was! madness. the young dog is a very handsome chap aswell all the best
  19. my fell is the biggest tart you ever did see, always wanting her guts rubbed and jumping up on the sofa with me but if any one tries grabbing at me when shes near she goes bloody mad and latches hold of who ever it is totally different dog when shes working
  20. As long as a dog works thats all that SHOULD matter, hwoever there are some that do like to have the name behind a dog. My veiw is that aslong as it works it dont really matter what it looks like or what names it come from. I imagen it could help put a few more £'s on the price of a litter though
  21. Dose anyone know what dat the terrier show is for the new forest show? cheers
  22. Brash pile.....pile of sticks and tree cuttings. All the grass has been cut round this way so thought it might be worth having a look for some cubs that are moving about or looking for somewhere to lie up. she dont look to right in the photos for some reason. she dont like to stay still for long enough to have a photo taken
