  1. put your t-shirt you've worn today or something else that smells of you in his bed it's one of the first things I do when I've got a new pup, helps with bonding and they'll always end up curled up on it, also give him time to settle in I'd expect whining for a couple of days from a new pup even a 12 month old, they're big changes new sights, smells and sounds his head will be up his arse, if you exercise him more feed him more, you'll soon find a healthy balance when you're bonded and intune with the dogs needs
  2. The dogs most probably never been on its own before, try putting a soft toy and one of your dirty t-shirt in his bed and as others say tire it out feed it then bed, hopefully he'll settle
  3. id also Give it some chicken wings or meaty bones aswell just for something to knaw on and chew, cooked liver and brown bread once a week, also sardines in tomato sauce or oil, mine ate everything from chicken livers to lamb shoulder chunks
  4. A lot of people don't understand how protective and loyal staffs are, I have 1 here 7 years old, brilliant with the kids my lurcher and jrt but put another dog in the mix that he sees as a threat and it's game over,I had stop my lady walking him aswell if there was a group of lads heading his way he'd go straight through the middle of them like a tank he wouldn't bite just menace them,I wouldn't get rid of the dog for the reasons your stating as its just doing its job, sounds like next doors mutt had it coming and your staff took full advantage, accidents happen fella. also you have to take
  5. 2 months ago I bought 2 of last years kits from matt1979 with the intention of working them this coming season ,they're that tame and used to being handled my eldest girl and gf have now laid claim to them and got attached, so I'm looking for a working hob and gill team to add too the pair i have to save me any mither that might arise with taking there now precious ferrets out working, ideally in the stoke area but I'm also willing to travel a short distance for the right ferrets thanks Ant
  6. Just got off the phone to John Lewis £37 a month per dog and that was there cheapest plan, reasons being that my dog is a mixed breed !!! safe to say I won't be using them

  8. deff full of life lol, he only pet but I reckon make great ratter , what do think of parson /jack terrier ? they look ok tall supposed to keep up with the hounds but still not to big to go to ground , bloke who had one told me . I grew up with a parsons jrt from good working lines real strong dog would go all day and strangely would never pant or show any fatigue, the bloke who bred him used to always try and get him back but the mother always refused as he was big into digging badger and fox with them at the time
  9. Looking for a couple of ferret kits or last yrs young, ideally around stoke area but can travel, will be going to a loving working home, would prefer working backgrounds but not essential thanks in advance

  11. A freind has a dog same build as yours his is a collie/whippet/grey, me and a couple of friends used to give him a bit of grief saying his was under weight needed feeding up and all that, it wasn't until we saw how much food it actually ate and not really put weight on and it's wormed regular, weve realised now thats how its built theres nothing wrong with it, someone even reported him to the rspca they came out checked him, his verdict was its a lurcher.....
  12. I have a saluki x, he's nearly 16 week old, having read a lot of bad reports on them I was expecting trouble but I couldnt of been more wrong up to yet lol, he's sitting on command, retrieves and his recall is brilliant, when he's off the lead he walks to heal unless he's told to go play, i have also found that when he does do wrong screaming and being aggressive does not work, his sire is a sal x dh and his dame is a sal x gh and its got me thinking where the hell he's got the obedience from, some one will most probably say wait until hes older 8-10 months old when he starts to mature the fu
  13. I have a 14 week old sal cross who i walk with a friends 13 week old bull grey, its all good and well until the bull x starts getting dominant using it's bigger frame to push him about, when hes had enough they'll scrap which always result in the bull x running off squealing, im hoping that this will fizzle out as we plan on working them together or are we just pissing in the wind hoping that they will sort it out before they get to the age where they can cause eachother major damage
