It had got in between the clod and trap hole. The trap site is a long term affair, probably had twelve or thirteen moles in it over six months or so, and the clod shrinks over time and has to be replaced. Looks like the snake slipped in and went over the trap the wrong way. Probably pushed the trigger over with a convulsion as it wriggled through the tunnel. The customer found it before I did. It was just over five foot long. Some knowledgable folk on here identified it as an Aesculapian snake.

In many areas of France water voles have become entirely terrestrial and will colonse mole tunnels and dig their own tunnel systems that are only slightly different to mole tunnels. They have been declared a major nuisance in many departments. https://translate.google.fr/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.campagnols.fr/le-campagnol-terrestre.html&prev=search As for what species you lot have trapped. I'm about to raise the bar

Different situation out here. The moles must be more communal as I regularly get two or three in a small area so I overtrap on the first visit. If get called back a few months later I can usually just place a trap in a main run near to the new diggings and get the incomer, but for initial clearances if I just put one trap per mole I'd be going back too many times. As I cover up to 45 miles radius I reckon a few extra minutes placing extra traps saves a lot of hours behind the wheel.

Better to save up and buy good traps in batches, rather than one or two at a time. Otherwise you'll end up paying more in postage than you have for the traps.

Putanges - Any More For Any More?
Nicepix replied to Nicepix's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I've just finished packing the orders ready to print the postage labels next week. Those who have ordered or expressed an interest please check the list on Page 1 to make sure you are on it and the details are correct. There are two or three awaiting payment and I'm waiting for JD to confirm the quantity of his order. Otherwise I think the list is complete. Having just looked at the Hermes website for parcel deliveries there are options to include the recipient's mobile and / or e-mail for tracking purposes. If any of you want me to add them please send a PM before next Sunday (15th) T -
That's the best way to learn if you haven't got a mentor to show you the ropes. I got back into mole trapping after a long time away by trapping on a farm where I'd rented a cottage. No pressure, nobody looking over my shoulder and just a few traps initially. The main thing is to be open minded and critical of your methods. Otherwise you will not learn anything. Every soil type brings new challenges as does the changing seasons. You'll learn what works best and what isn't working for you. The best advice any one of us can give a newcomer is to buy the best traps you can afford. Even if it

I wondered where you had got to these days. I suppose with your new farming enterprise and all your trapping jobs there aren't enough hours in the day? Especially waiting for the stock to come in from the field Did you find any pellets for them?

Is that the Flatpack version you are using PK?

try replying to them. If they have blocked you, you cannot see their post and they cannot PM you. It is as if you do not exist on the forum to them. (They cannot see your posts) Not sure about the strike though above. TC Make your post and outlandish claim, post it then block the recipient, not hard to do. One problem with that is who ever had you blocked would not be able to see any new thread you started. TC And therefore wouldn't be able to reply with quotes. Game set and match I think. About time this was put to bed. I don't want to deal with this guy.

You were recently asked quite politely by a member on here whether you had previously posted as Peter Fullerton, which you denied. Post 17 on this thread would appear to contradict that....... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/337013-mole-trapping-experience/page-2 The thread was then deleted, possibly at your request. But the fact remains that you lied about your previous identity.

Print whatever you like. The fact remains that I have not put you on block. I didn't even know there is such a function.

Firstly I haven't haven't put Bry27 / Bryn / Peter Fullerton or whoever he calls himself this week on block so that rather proves the other point. End of discussion.

Putanges - Any More For Any More?
Nicepix replied to Nicepix's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Sorry - No pliers left at £4. I can probably source a few locally at around £6 or slightly more, and I haven't been able to get any more at the cheaper price. The annoying thing is that they are exactly the same product. If you want the extra traps then it would be £18.50 (£17.50 for the traps plus £1 extra postage). If you want pliers I'll get you a pair, but it will have to be at the £6 price. EDIT: let me know by PM about the pliers and I'll refund the payment or part of it if necessary. -

Its all on page 1. I'll need confirmation and payment by Sunday 15th so I can print off the Hermes postage labels before travelling over. Pity the poor sod on the day shift at the Hermes Depot at the Jet Service Station just outside Hull when I drop off 50 kilos of ironmongery for them to sort out -

Just had a count up. Dependent on the orders not yet paid for being confirmed there are about 170 traps left (miscounted earlier). Only 1 (or 2 dependent on orders being confirmed) Setting Pliers and 2 (or 3) packs of Spare Triggers left. -
I've sent a pm mate but no reply if you need money quickly.cheers Sorry, but I've not replied before as I've had to do a count up of orders against the stuff I have in. Also, you are a bit vague about what exactly you are wanting. Are these for you or are you ordering on behalf of someone else?

Tell her that you are working as a rent boy giving blow jobs to rich American tourists. It's not as embarrassing as admitting that you are a mole trapper.

I went through a bad patch with them. I'd done OK at first then seemed to lose the knack. Thankfully Mr. Darcy gave me some really good advice and now its almost every one a coconut. Thanks JD My own view is that it all depends on the soil and conditions. In some areas a monkey could catch using them, whereas in other situations it needs a bit of creativity.

Just been round to a friend of mine who had been doing some mole trapping for one of his friends. As he'd lost several traps to their lawn mower (woman driver) he asked him to get some marker paint and he would go back and put some Putanges down. He got there to find that Dave had bought green spray paint.

There is some 30lb braid included in every pack. Bry, The trap relies on two round surfaces being held together under pressure from the spring. Similar to the two pieces of wood that butt together to hold a Larsen Trap open. If you put a groove in the trap then the trigger will not dislodge as easily. There is only a slight issue when the traps (and trapper) are brand new. After a day or so you'll both get on better.

Yes, I agree that the more people who use them, the more good techniques will be shared. I use a twisted piece of fence wire as a probe to check the direction of the tunnel and to rake out the crumb. The spoon comes in when the tunnel is too tight for the trap to slide in. It bores out the tunnel to just the right size. And it is useful for shovelling the debris from excavations after I've put the spade down. The twisted wire, spoon and a long, narrow trowel (I think it is designed for digging out dandelion roots) are my main Putange tools. The wire pegs are OK in strong ground, but in sof

My Way With The Putanges You’ve read the book, seen the photos and now the blockbuster film has just been released to a fanfare of publicity at the Barnsley Odeon! Never before has the famous red carpet seen such glitterati, or for that matter wellies and Muckboots. Hollywood superstars such as Sir David Attenborough, Dame Judy Dench and Christopher Biggins are not in it. Bill Oddie couldn’t wouldn’t come and the film was introduced by that girl who sometimes presents the weather on Yorkshire TV. “My Way With The Putanges” concerns a simple lad from Barnsley making his living using

I had to delete a load of messages to clear room for more as the Inbox was full. Never expected them to be so popular. Can't wait to see the poor shop keeper at the Hermes depot when I hand over three hundredweight of ironmongery
