  1. Oh really, if I ever have the pleasure what do you suggest I go for ?
  2. Down in Cornwall mate, got 100+ acres on this site
  3. I have already, just getting out for a couple hours reminded me why I loved it so much in the first place. Its a cz 455 .17hmr
  4. So it’s been at least 3 years since I ventured out with my rifle, last night I dusted off the cobwebs check my zero and went out on a new permission. Within 2 minutes of stepping out of the truck I was presented with my first rabbit around 90yards away, got him in my sights squeezed the trigger and sure enough I missed him, absolutely gutted, think I rushed the shot (I put it down to the excitement of the chance of getting my first rabbit in a long time) It wasn’t long before we saw another rabbit this time a little further away, got into position and once again got him in my sigh
  5. In that case, the hmr will be fine
  6. ^^^^^^^^^and so it starts^^^^^^^^
  7. hi lloyd, not sure how much my advice is worth as ive only been shooting a year. i have a cz 455 17hmr and i think its great, i use it for rabbits and foxes and havnt had a problem with it. i think you might of started a recurring debate on wheather a rimfire is suitable for fox! what sort of ranges are you looking at shooting?
  8. Not long at all, I know a lot of people aren't keen on the HMR but for me an what I need a rifle for at the moment, it suits me down to the ground I love it Joys of having a laser cutter ?
  9. its only 2mm st/st, obviously will have a backstop and hoping, if im good enough ill just pop the circles right through. hoping to try it in a bit
  10. been busy at work and made a new target to try out with my 17hmr. still need to weld some legs onto it, and paint the discs, the discs are 13mm diameter.
  11. Am I likely to be in trouble if I transport my rifle strapped to my back (in a case) on my motor bike, does it need to be hidden from the public, I.e in the boot of a car?
  12. Cheers Dan, I don't mind going out and learning by myself but it's nice to be put on the right track sometimes.
  13. I've had my rifle for nearly a year now, so still very much a rookie but want to up my game a bit and bag a few more Charlie's. Is there any advice on finding their path, tracking them, finding their den, best time of day to go out etc. Ive spent a few evenings out with whistle but with no luck, most probably down to the calling being awful but maybe location too. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. I'm looking for a bit of advice, My sisters father in law died, and he owned a few rifles, So his wife is left with the guns and isn't 100% sure on what to do on selling them so I'd like to try and help out as it's a little tough for her. Any advice you have on the procedures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  15. sorry to jump on this post but to do with the same subject, if your walking through a field with a loaded rifle and you want to go into the next field which happens to be across a road, do you have to take the mag out and eject the round thats in the chamber before doing so?
  16. Good size looking fox, nice one
  17. I don't have a cf but work in a steel factory I say 10-15mm would be sufficient. The thicker you go, the more multiple shots in the same place it would take before penetrating but if your lugging it around it could get heavy.
  18. i was granted a cf on my first application, in fairness i did have the condition of a mentor with it so i just went with the hmr, and later discoverd the mentor thing is poppy cock. so as SS said if you need a CF then go for it.
  19. im pretty sure age doesnt come into it my friend, if the land is cleared and you have a use for the calibre then there shouldnt be a problem.
  20. I feel a big debate coming.....
  21. I was kind of in the same boat as you mate, had my SGC for ages and wanted to get a rifle, I applied for a HMR and a 223 nod got both with the condition I went out with a mentor with the 223. So if you really want a CF then go for it. I went for the HMR in the end thought it was too much hassle having a mentor and the HMR was cleared for fox too.
  22. Cheers mate, yea I think it's finally there just need to get some regular shooting in now. I see you got your new toy now, looks like a lovely bit of kit mate.
