  1. Finally got round to zero the new scope in, zeroed at 100meters all going well till I ran out of ammo (school boy error) but managed to get my last 4 shots within 1 1/2 inches which were a bit rushed so fairly happy with that for now.
  2. So were the original mounts too uncomfortable to use did you need to lift your head to view the scope or not? No not really I was more concerned about the gap between scope and barrel as I thought this was fairly crucial to get the best from the scope.
  3. Thought that would be the case, a little frustrating as the gun shop won't be open now or tomorrow so won't be able to play this weekend.
  4. Exchanged the large for the medium mounts and now they are too short so, can I pack the mounts out a little bits bad if so with what or just go back to the large mounts?
  5. Yea will do, hoping to get out on Sunday, and just got a new perm on a golf course so hopefully a lot more shooting for me
  6. Thanks for the advice lads, will exchange my mounts tomorrow and hopefully the weather will clear up so I can go and play. Cheers CC
  7. Just bought a new scope an I know you want it as close to the barrel as possible, is this close enough (10mm) or should I get shorter mounts?? Thanks
  8. Just bought a new scope an I know you want it as close to the barrel as possible, is this close enough (10mm) or should I get shorter mounts?? Thanks

  12. im looking to put it on my 17 hmr, i cant make my mind up weather to go for the 6-24x50 or spend a little more money and get the 4-16x50 with which has the illuminated reticle but lose out on the magnification.
  13. Dan what is it you dont like about them, is it anything mechanically and reliability wise or just looks?
  14. i was looking at the 6-24x50 Gameking or the 4-16x50 with IR, maybe thatwould helpafter the sun goes down?
  15. looking to buy a new scope, dont want to spend silly money at the moment,my scope isnt holding zero so just want something to get me by for now and found the nikko stirling they seem good value for money. has anyone had experience with these scopes? or could anyone suggest any others. thanks
  16. I did see it was up for sale, looks like whoever is having it has got themselves a good deal.
  17. Yes it is dan, 455. Fantastic rifle chuffed to bits with it. Unfortunately the wind picked up a bit too much so decided to pack up and going to go out again tomorrow evening as the weather forecast is better
  18. Had a txt this afternoon by the mother in law that a fox had been sniffing around yesterday evening so I'm currently laying in a field waiting for the bugger to turn up, spotted a couple rabbits in my sight but have restrained myself from pulling the trigger. Hopefully Charlie will make an appearance
  19. I read an article about using a cheap battery alarm clock, tieing some fishing wire around the battery and on the other end tieing it to a rabbit, so when Charlie takes the rabbit he pulls the battery out which in turn tells you what time he has been, do this over a couple of nights and you will get a rough idea of when Charlie comes out to feed then you can wait in the hedge for him and give him more then just a rabbit.
  20. Unlucky with the foxes dan, I like the thinking behind leaving a rabbit for them though. I might have to try that myself
  21. Cheers lads. Yea good luck dan looking forward to the pics! Nice on cc, it's so hard to get anything these days
  22. Just got back from an hour on the rabbits, the trigger feels so much better, what a difference.
  23. Me and my brother Popped out for just over an hour with the 17hmr and o/u had a great time bagged 9 rabbits in total 8 with the rifle and one fantastic 40yrd shot with the shotty as mr rabbit was in full stride! Only 6 in the photo as the others were a little messed up.
