  1. Beautiful fish mate. Absolute perfection.
  2. Never tried uv resin before but do you think something like this would be better than a uv torch http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36W-UV-Lamp-Light-Gel-Curing-Nail-Dryer-4-x-9W-Blubs-/140742932237?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Nails_Manicure_Pedicure_CA&hash=item20c4eeb70d
  3. I only ever fish 2 fly casts from the bank, although I don't really know why (probably ocd on my part). As for the leader, I don't change the length of it, I just move the bung closer to the dropper to reduce the depth. I have to say that I find it more enjoyable to fish without an indicator but I found on a couple of times when there is virtually no wind I could only get takes when there is no movement of the fly.
  4. I've never got round to trying for pike on a fly yet, but I believe that people use these sort of things. https://www.fullingmill.com/index.php?idPage=13&c=132 I imagine they would take some casting though!
  5. I've been using the same airflo fast clear intermediate and slow clear intermediate for the last 9 or so years now. I got them from the game fair at chatsworth, and they were only about 15 or 20 quid each. There great lines, cast well and haven't cracked after all these years. I like the fact that there clear too for when the fish are a bit spooky. Not sure what the new versions are like but I would recommend the ones I got.
  6. I've had some good sessions using holographic buzzers when there's a bit of sun about, I think the flash of the holographic material catches the trouts attention. Another of my favourites is a skinny black pennell with just a beard hackle, though its not strictly a buzzer its worked well for me when there hatching off. Just got to get round to tying some up now my fly box is looking a bit sparse at the moment.
  7. Despite what I posted above about indicators I still prefer not to use one if I can as I don't think you can beat that feeling of direct contact with a fish, especially all the little nips and plucks you seem to get with buzzers.
  8. How about a hw100. See the post above as most people seem to prefer these. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/318767-r10-or-hw100/ You should be able to pick one up for about 500ish second hand.
  9. I love buzzer fishing and tend to use them alot early season through to june. Until last year though I had never used them with a strike indicator. I was down Rutland and fishing buzzers in the traditional way but catching nothing. The bloke next to me however was taking fish after fish. After a while he came over to me and advised me to try an indicator and static buzzer and even gave me one of his own perfectly tied quill buzzers and indicators. The difference was night and day and I too was getting loads of action. Until that day I thought that indictors were a bit "dirty" but I n
  10. we have an old swimming baths full of different size fish nl and used to buy them from their for about £5 for a about 8 fish around the 3 to 4 inch range caught plenty of jack pike from the local park lakes and canals A mate of mine knew a lad who worked at a garden centre a few years ago and he used to get the deformed and sick goldfish for nothing. He always swore that these were great pike bait, especially on the river when it was a bit coloured.
  11. Sorry to hear about this Sam. Hope the scumbags get caught. It might be worth keeping an eye on ebay locally they could be stupid enough to try and sell it there. Atb
  12. How long are the stockies in the water you fish as i could not imagine them been too tasty. The lake i fish holds quite a lot of wild brown trout aswell as stockies and rainbows and i have to say there is no comparison taste wise, although when the rainbows are in the water for a few months there not bad eating. Not 100% sure but not long as its only just reopened. Taste wise there probably on par with what you would get from the supermarket, but will improve after they've been in for a few months like you say.
  13. Thanks Dave, much appreciated. Nik know what you mean about the mobile coverage. I didn't realise how much I'd missed the fishing until after I got back home. Can't wait to get another booked off now. Atb
  14. I managed to book a days leave on Wednesday and headed off to Foremark for the day. After reading the reports for the opening days I must admit that I was quite optimistic. Despit the frosty start to the day the weather looked good with a light south westerly breeze picking up. I tackled up with a green and black fritz lure on a clear intermediate line which I always seem to favour early in the season. I am not one of those effortless casters and after a 3 month layoff my usual very average casting was now p1ss poor and it took me a good while to progress back to mediocrity. After ab
