  1. Uhh yeah to be honest I do get that a bit, I know the ground I work and where the earths are etc so I try to work around it. Either put them on the leads when I get closer or get someone to go on ahead and cover the earths. Thanks though bud, means a lot it really does. I hate seeing a dog on the street that’s not being fed enough quality grub.
  2. Quick few hours out this morning. Tidy bag. Can’t decide whether they are really healthy rabbits or border line obese haha that’s some serious fat around those kidneys!
  3. Wedgey how come you put a pic of my dogs up? Ha
  4. There grandfather was a pure Plummer from vandal, but they have more Russell in them than anything. Yep there crazy. They catch a lot to be fair. They scent good too, they definitely have the beagle blood in them!
  5. Your words could not be more true my friend. That’s why I thought I’d put them up there to show that it’s not all about the hunting ? enjoying the last few years I can with grandad before it gets too much for him. It’s only fair that I drag him up a few hills as it was him that got me so interested in terriers the swine ?
  6. Very cold day out over the welsh hills today. Sadly drew a blank but things can’t always go your way. Still plenty of exercise for the monsters and myself and some very idyllic scenery of the welsh hills!
  7. Ha cheers bud. They are last years pups. About 13 months now. I only wanted one but they were too good to sell so I kept 2! There not quite yet up to par to Dad on the far right and uncle on far left but plenty of time yet ?
  8. Out with the maniacs this weekend! Cold weather coming in
  9. Don’t think it quite works like that in South Wales. Every chav and there dog is at it. Usually not with the permission to be there too
  10. What terriers you got bud? You not getting much digging on your perms?
  11. Haha Tell me about it, it’s hard work trying to explain it! Yeah man I’m still bringing the pups on been kind of slow this year with work commitments. Certainly got my work cut out for me with 4 now! I took on the extra 2 pups hoping we was going to have a good year but it’s turning out to be a right stinker so far. Lost a farm to a shoot taking over and others well just lacking any form of wildlife at all it seems. So see how it all pans out. Pics below of my old Russell who’s sadly no longer and grandads old bitch and the Lakeland x Russell bitch also.
  12. Liquorice all sorts!... so the 2 dogs on the right I bred myself from my own jack Russell which is No longer with us, The bitch we put him to was my grandfathers bitch which was also bred by us, the sire being a Plummer, the son of the famous vandal and the dam being a paterdale/Russell x border/Russell. A bitch from that litter was put on to my jack Russell which we got the 2 dogs you see on the right, then last year we put the ginger dog on right to my grandfathers Lakeland Russell, which is the 2 pups you see on the left which is now 13 months. Phew!!
  13. Just wondered if there’s any guys on here that’s part of a syndicate at castle farm in usk?
  14. How do you add photos on here lads? I'm not clued up it seems
  15. I very rarely comment on these threads as its generally pointless, trying to convert the narrow minded. However, I felt compelled to reply to this one. If true gameness is very hard to describe and has to be seen, how can you comment on whether a dog is game or not without seeing it with your own eyes Moo? Sadly, old Vandal is no longer around, but here is an old photograph of Stormyboy's Vandal (hope you don't mind Stormy). As for being a wanky breed of terrier, thats your own opinion, and a very narrow minded one at that. I have seen wanky terriers of all types, including blacks, bo
  16. i got a little farm in usk about that sort of size mate where abouts is yours?
  17. Depends on the thickness of its coat for one. Also i'v met a lot of lads, no disrespect, that think they have to work thick cover but then when they come down to my neck of the woods they realise just how easy they have it. My terriers are always cut up, nothing major, just cuts and scrapes from very thick dense bramble cover. But at the end of the day if they do there job and flush the game etc, a few cuts or not doesnt make a blind bit of difference.
  18. My terriers catch in the bushes 8/10 times out. I think its just how well they are bred and the time youve put in to them. Plus the area you live, where im from its just 1 big bush lol ..I'v worked with lads from areas with little cover who claim to have "the best dog in the area" and when they come to where i live there dogs dont know what to do and spend hours running around outside the bushes wondering what all the ruckus is from inside the bush lol ..I guess a bushing dog is a dog that can work the cover in order to flush or catch game. Whether it be flush to gun, flushed and pushed to gro
  19. A chap i met at beating had a collie cross lab, claimed it to be the best dog he ever had. I must admit im a fan of mixed breeds, get the best traits of each breed in 1 dog. Both My terriers father is a jack russel, the grandfather is a plummer and the grandmother is border x russel x plummer x russel. They are nothing short of superb at all aspects of hunting i must admit.
  20. hi buddy, i wouldnt worry too much about the dog seeing the rabbit. A terriers greatest weapon is its nose! Just call them to where you saw the rabbit and let them work the scent. The greatest advice i was ever given was "always work with your dog". You are a team after all so where your dog goes you go with it, he has the nose and you have the eyes. ..My terriers dont hang around when im carrying one they just want to get back to work, all i can suggest is just be persistant in telling them to leave happy hunting mucka.
  21. The simple jack russell got my vote. A good all rounder, cant fault them i say.
