  1. Pablo its easy to write stuff into a book or mag, paper wont refuse ink and most authors wont refuse a good story let it be truth or lies as you probably know yourself.I used to read about a certain line of dogs belonging to a man whos name was up there with the rest of the big names in the terrier world and was always thinking how would i get my hands on some of this breeding.Well i had a couple of lads over from the UK for a wknds diging years ago and through the wknd i was asking about these dogs and was told that they would not touch them, only moderate fox dogs at best so on hearing that a
  2. People can say this and that but I think the truth in this case with them is in the book and not hearsay!
  3. OK. I used to , like a good few everywhere in the right places hear about JC , the man who worked him and who he came off , the person and his dog ,etc. I thought though , haggler , or what he had would been through df own owning and working ,etc.
  4. Yes , I'm with you. Must have been so. I thought df had bred and owned haggler though ,
  5. Could of been.it was a picture of it in a kennel. I did hear or see something of the dog , haggler , in the mag , I think.
  6. When was this dog ,haggler ,about ,over ten years ago ?. Sure I remember a picture of it in harcombes mag saying great veteran worker and that was ten years ago or more .
  7. I say it's got everything to do with JP, where did you hear it ?I heard it straight from JP, I know who told it to JP and I don't believe it for a second. As much as I dislike NS I still respect his ability with terriers and what he left behind. In truth myself, JP, and dozens more, including DF have made our name with his line of terriers (border x or not). IMO it's beneath any of us to bitch and moan and make up conspiracy theories, grow up, dig your terriers and move on. why would you not like ns ,I never told anything bad about him except when people we're saying the had his stuff and t
  8. Jealousy sometimes plays a big part in it,the amount of people that would love to see a good terrier jack or a good line go belly up is unreal.and cheap lies come with it or people giving something a bad name and all the rest of it. The ones saying it , says it all about themselves. Less the know about you the better!
  9. Yes be great ,when not stuck at work, had it myself last week. Could of went off somewhere else today but was in the mood for taking the dogs out , they deserved it more . getting difficult enough for places , believe it or not , even though lot of countryside about .
  10. Thanks. Yes I never feel bad about them.
  11. But over in the wood the terrier found a fox and hunted it through the river and up along the gorse. Trailed it well.I waited and the dog came back after time. The lurched was gone for half hour and I'd say it was after a different one . I searched the forest and tried about .
  12. was out today. Farmer living is chickens and other farm live stock. Important to find foxes , he has suffered loses in the past . nothing in a couple of burrowe
  13. and what if the game was easy , green, and dog built up confidence to have it easy like that , just a Bayer who can easy take advantage , would you go for that because I wouldn't . some fellas would and would go on about it. The dog. But you think if you met it next time or if it seen a dozen more digs or dogs in its time , through several seasons. Then you know what you have . maybe a good hard dog would hold him in a tube after running into it and the game just wanting get away. But a good dog as any to me is one who run the hard man who doesn't want to go in a stop and when he knew to charg
  14. Surely if it gets away fairly then its you or the dogs fault or both , or dog or you unsuccessful. Things that you see happen as a dog in the making and how it proved itself can only reflect on ones experience . and ahead of that , the game , what it was about and how he had held his status for seasons . no pushover. And one hole dug to be accounted for !
  15. One of the men's mate who sold one of the young border lakies in early eightees had been out with the man , JC, and his small good Russell was to ground . some man let his terrier go , went in and had his terrier . jack dug it fast and was not happy . that was the end of the mans dog. He wanted to do something but he still had the spade in his hand.
  16. Used to see some tidy looking border Lakeland when I started following terriers after Russell's. The best of them was a mates dog who inspired me , him. Dog called big todd , mother to it was a actually a russel of his brother and law , a good digging man also , no bullshit . the other one little todd was even smarter looking , proper border lakie unfortynatly been ruined like a good few at six , eight months . the man got him working to how should be but wasnt as good. They were bad were fighting around the kennels . same lad with big todd got another border lakie in. Other man had blacks
