these shotgun forms are old dont forget. well they say someone like a solicitor, lawyer, doctor teacher etc. it can be anyone of good standing really. it doesnt have to be the above. after all not everyone has friends of the above people who know them on a personal level. ive signed a mates firearms and shotgun forms. and im not a doctor etc.. imo if your good enough to get a fac and have the back ground checks etc.... then signing someone else's forms should be a sure thing

i would get yourself a action then have a word with dasherman about rebarrel and bedding into a mcmillan sako style stock. oversize bolt handle and fluted bolt if you want one. you can allways add the fluted bolt and bolt handle when you have funds. the stock bedding and barrel work is where the main cost will come. due to vat and £ against the $ a rebarrel your looking around £700 now ! depends on what you want to spend. you could keep a eye out for a semi custom or custom rifle ready built. as they wont be far off the same prices. by the time you buy action, rebarrel, stock, bedding

ive heard good and bad things about riflecraft. some good that they do barrel they take off new rifles that are in to be turned custom. so they sell off the new factory barrels cheap fit and proof them for next to no money which is good. but bad that a guy had a remmy from them what they said was blueprinted etc. when he had the rifle rebarreled in the future by a different smith. it turns out the remmy action hadnt even been worked on so wasnt blueprinted. this to me isnt very good. paying for a blueprinted action that wasnt even touched i bet that wasnt cheap.

going to be hard to find with out a little wear on them. dont forget there from the 90's m590 even harder to find then the m595 in 243. i know where there is a m590 with delux walnut stock, and black plastic stock, screwcut and very accurate indeed for £500 the only mark on it is from where the mod has met the barrel bot no big problem. forgot to say its sat in a mates cabinet waiting for me to pick it up sorry mate i could help myself. if your after one to use as a semi custom i wouldnt be to worried about barrel wear if your getitng it rebarreld and its cheap enough snap it up.

Do you need land when applying for a FAC
jamie g replied to Stuart1985's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i no a pest controler that got open on 1st ticket. he still had to put land forward though. with you being in scotland im sure if you can find some ground to put forward. your ticket might be open from start any how. as alot of people on here from over the border have open from start -
Anyone had experiences with .243 80 grain Sierra Blitz.
jamie g replied to robbobsam's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
dont get them mixed up guys the bliz and blizking are two different bullets. yes there both made by sierra but the blizking is a bt bullet and the bliz is softpoint boat tail -
Do you need land when applying for a FAC
jamie g replied to Stuart1985's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
thats not fully true mate. you can shoot on other land with out having it past if you have open fac but you still need permission to shoot the land from farmer/land owner. also to be granted or renewing fac you still have to have land to get the ticket. and even if you have open ticket the land you put forward for renewal still must be past for the firearms you have. silly i know if on open but thats they way they do it -
.243 Varmint Load.......4000fps.
jamie g replied to robbobsam's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
20 br v.nice but you would probably have to run it as a single shot as unlikely to cycle through a mag.Am using 17 rem with 30 grain Bergers on fox to 250ish at 3900 fps without probs unless something farts in the field in which case all bets are off. i do agree their 6BR\17REM single shot it would be , it saves messing about trying to catch the brass ( no ejector ). been thinking mcmillan a5 tac stock krieger barrel, bat action jewel triger . . sounds a good set up. not much change from 3 grand by the time its built ! -
What is the Best lamp for foxing?
jamie g replied to TWOTWOTHREE's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
if it was me i wouldnt get the red filter it cuts down to much of the distance. get amber instead -
this guy can flute bolts mate http://www.mckilloprifles.com/Mckillop_Rifles/Home.html give him a bell and see what he says.

when you mean parts you mean aftermarket parts. sako isnt as popular as remmington for aftermartket parts. though it is a better rifle. what where you looking to do for it. you could get a tactical bolt nob fitted to it. most gunsmiths will do this, you can get rail's if you dont want the optiloc mounts. as for aftermarket triggers i dotn think the do them for sako. just a case of having the one you have on it adjusted. if yor after a aftermarket stock then mcmillan do them for the sako

if its a factory screwcut tikka varmint it will be m18 x 1 mate

.243 Varmint Load.......4000fps.
jamie g replied to robbobsam's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
you might be able to push the 58's at 4000 fps but doesnt mean that is where the best accuracy is. i would much perfer to have a accurate load at good spped then one flat out which isnt as accurate i think your be lucky to get 2000 rounds out of the 243 if your pushing them at 4000 fps the 20 cal barrel would last longer it uses less powder you also have the have less kick which is nice for spotting shots. my 22/250 is set up 1 inch high at 100 yards and ive shot foxes out to 250 with out aiming off them. go with accuracy 1st and not speed -
depends on whoy ou get to do it. what barrel what finish etc. but your looking about £650+
-
snapshot is right the tikka m590 and m595 are superb actions. if you want to use the 22/250 as a foxing rifle and get a second one in 243 for deer then do so. you could get a nice 243 m595 for around £500 and that will be nice. or find a worn out one cheap 2/250/308 and have a nice custom barrel on it in 243. so keep a eye out for them
