  1. If you must be answered She was in yarak @ 3lb 1oz would follow on up to 3lb 3.5oz The reason she would not take pheasants is because there are no shoots in this area and the nearest ones you could not get permission within a couple of miles of them. Does that help? TC Yep! ?
  2. So you're not content with shooting stuff out of season! Now you want to shoot the young even before they've left the egg!!!! Looooooll!!
  3. I'll concede that. I won't fly from the car because of the poor quality flights that you get and the fact that it's just killing. Maybe you could to build a birds confidence but it's not for me. I'd much rather stalk up on something and then get a slip from the glove and watch that flight. You're quite right, if the quarry gets away after flying well I'd always be pleased. I use a catapult to give the quarry more of a chance than with a gun. You have to realistically get within 15 yards of your target to achieve a kill. I know I often post about longer kills but I've been at this catapult
  4. Tiercel, are you avoiding answering my questions for fear of your lack of knowledge and experience being exposed?
  5. Don't sit in your glass house launching your bird at out of season birds. If you've done enough and your bird is following on like it should then sooner or later it's going to drop onto a duck on the water or an out of season hen bird sitting in cover. Why wouldn't that female fly pheasants? What was her flying weight?
  6. I have no problem with BPR he shoots vermin with his catapult, and a very good shot he is. What I do have a problem with is people shooting game out of season. Mugging a Mallard in moult or popping off some half tame pheasant out of season is not really the pinnacle of ethics is it? To be honest it does not really require any skill as they are semi tame and you can walk right up to them, not to mention the fact that it is illegal. BPR in his videos shoots pigeon and rabbits non of which have a season, he has worked hard to get where he is shooting a catapult wise, many many hours of practice

  8. I've been Yeeharr for years and years but Krankys few months get all the attention.
  9. That's kind of the beauty of the catty. Can stop the car at the side of the road, bag a woody for the pot and be on your way. No one bats an eyelid. That's the way it should stay. You can even shoot out of season game and get praised for it. TC You're constantly looking for things to complain about or ways to prove that you know more than others. If you don't like it don't read it. Or better still, put up a video of your catty shooting, demonstrating how it should be done.
  10. Bad press for fieldsports? You're another coward who's petrified of upsetting the anti's! Grow a pair!!!
  11. If they're not set correctly or in the wrong place then you will get accidental catches. Even when they are set correctly you'll get accidental catches but if the snares are checked regularly you can release a lot of these. It's usually badger and roe that get caught near me but I dare say that other species will be more prominent in other areas. Cats get caught in them, but that's the owners fault. If they kept a check on where they went or confined them to their own garden then they wouldn't get caught in snares, hit by cars, etc With a modern snare, the majority of these non target an
  12. I totally agree, a dog running flat out can break it's neck in a snare. Often, when going to check rabbit snares, you'll get one that runs into a snare as it bolts for home and they can kill themselves from that. The places that you set fox wires are different to rabbit wires. A dog that walks into one shouldn't start choking itself. It's used to a lead. If it goes mental when a lead is placed around its neck then maybe the dog needs dealing with. Those of you who've actually had a dog caught in one, have found the dogs sitting/lying and unable to move. Those that are just talking
  13. I see from this comment that you don't know how a snare works. Lol!!!!!!
  14. I suppose if you're just into hunting as a hobby or new to the game, then you'll slag off snares because you don't understand them. Much like some shooters call dog work inhumane and barbaric without actually seeing it done.
  15. You on drugs No, just a grown up. The countryside must be littered with set snares the way people are going on. Do you know how a snare works?
  16. A dog that's used to having a lead around its neck shouldn't strangle itself in a snare.
  17. They look like 158gr .38 SPL to me.
  18. The foxes of Croydon and the surrounding areas are mine. I hold the historic sporting rights to them.
  19. Ill say this if its ok?....I asked was the dog supposed to be working.... and how old it was! thats how i asked it?... do you know the dog or does a dogs looks win you over ? Any man thinks hes an expert at anything is just a fool in my opinion,...... although i do love terrierwork and try and do it 3 days a week from sept through to feburary...for about the last 20 and more years.... im by no means an expert! I do love to watch a good russell TYPE work though..... and by that i mean when u cast your eyes on it, it categorically looks like a russell TYPE.... 90% white, stron
  20. Mine is stock other than the black tubes and a kangaroo leather pouch.
  21. Get some theratube black on it. And shoot some lead.
  22. This was a decent, aggro free thread.
