Think that's obvious, don't you think? Yes, but you are "generalising" smaller dogs ability to turn better because of a lower centre of gravity. Which is bollocks........ Everything with a lower centre of gravity turns faster, whether that's a formula 1 car to land rover or Zola compared to that tall useless guy who played for Liverpool I think. It's the laws of physics. But your right, not all small dogs will turn faster, but a good small dog will turn faster than a good large one. Anyhow, as Kranky says, this has nothing to do with the thread so I'll leave it at that.My coffee table

Might Have A Shine Tonight Who's Out?
Suzy Ross replied to lurcherman887's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'll be out tonight, not much of a moon, hopefully windy, sounds too good to miss. -
Thanks for your opinion of me. You won't be surprised your opinion means nothing to me. As for me not knowing what I'm talking about, your the one who looks the fool. Deflect the discussion as much as you want, nothing will change that.Don't play the wounded martyr. Read back over your posts. You started out abusive and sanctimonious and didn't like getting spoke to the same way. Don't try and hide behind your pettycoat and claim that I'm some sort of chauvinist. I've got 2 daughters and a missus, I'm used to losing to women. I'm sure you're the greatest dog handler the world has ever seen

Excellent input What would you like me to add, you guys have it all covered from giraffes to Usain Bolt! But since you want my view, here it is. Everything in life has its ideal size for peak performance. You guys have opened the discussion to include anything so I will. Nature has created the fastest animal to be the size it is. Everything has a knock on effect. If an animal is taller it's centre of gravity is higher up its body making it less maneuverable I.e bending. If you can get a tall dog with a low centre of gravity or running style that makes it run lower great. But a smaller dog wi

Went ferreting yesterday with the dog. Me, him, ferrets and a dozen nets just as I like it. I use the nets to get a couple of unmarked rabbits for an old guy I know then I lift them and let the dog have some fun. First warren the dog marked was a 15 holer, once netted the ferret placed in what looked like the most used hole, both me and jasper waited. We didn't have to wait long and the ferret was out another hole. He soon disappeared again, I gave jasper a sideward look but he just kept looking at the holes ears cocked. He's not the best marker but not the worst so I gave him the benefit

How would it work, would it be a litter of cloned pups or just one? I think it all depends on what you have to clone regarding whether you think it's a good idea or not. If your getting a pup in the hope its better than you have then fair play. But if your looking for a pup and thinking, I hope he turns out as good as my other dog then why not. I know the dogs traits will be different due to life experiences etc but that's a good thing. No matter how good a dog is there is always things we wish we had done different in training it. Whether that's breaking it to cats or concentrating more on hi

Pup Retrieving With A Dead Rabbit?
Suzy Ross replied to Dranny GLC's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Reading this thread you could be forgiven for thinking it was gun dogs you were training not lurchers. Too much effort on unnecessary training IMO. Having an unskinned rabbit in the freezer to begin with when you have a pup is a no no for me. I like to keep changing the dummy rabbit skin as often as I can so it doesn't just become there favourite chew toy so i go through a few. Teaching a pup to retrieve in the back garden is great for initial training but once the real thing comes and the fields stench of rabbit, adrenalin thrown in, the dog will forget all instantly. To replicate as close a -
That's disgusting

Hi all, I'm guessing this is where I introduce myself. I'm 25, have a whippet greyhound I've had from a pup, he's now coming up on 7. He's been a great companion. I mostly ferret with him. Happy hunting.

Pup Retrieving With A Dead Rabbit?
Suzy Ross replied to Dranny GLC's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Can't see size and weight coming into it when the dogs finally catching its quarry. Retrieve training is basically teaching the dog to bring what it has back to you. Unless your dogs smaller than a rabbit, I'm sure it'll be fine. -
Best First Lurcher For A Complete Novice
Suzy Ross replied to FatBoyFerrets's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Don't know about for a first dog but I love the whippet greyhound, ticks all the boxes for me. Mine isn't as hyper as you'd imagine the cross to be. Pretty level headed. -
I've been to Alton towers, never been to flamingo land, is it pretty much the same?
-
I think it's a great idea. I've a whippet greyhound on the wrong side of 6, who I'd love to clone. To think I could have the same dog for the rest of my days sounds great.

I love zombie films. Shaun of the dead is one of my favourites.
