  1. Blackdog92 feck they're a couple o nice borders, the one on the right not that old am guessing? Fox dogs?
  2. Am not saying a full wheaton wudn't try to get to ground, but it's another thing getting to the quarry, even the smallest full wheaton wud struggle. I've seen 2 wheaton X's working below ground and well, the first was a wheaton/staff/russell x dog worked till he was 12 yrs old slightly a bit big but has accounted for a lot o foxes, 2nd was a wheaton/russell X bitch put down in her 2nd season,
  3. My personal view is getting young terriers travelling is half the battle - I have run an experienced dog through to make sure nothing was at home, then allowed the young dog to travel, I find it builds confidence and I find doesn't impact the dog in making the grade.
  4. Interesting mating, pups do look crackers, hope they do make what ur after,
  5. as I said in my earlier reply it's the first time I've done this mating so it's gonna be a suck it and see process, but I'm hoping to get something 20+ for what I want one for,but I agree half staff could keep the size down, but quarter grey will help, well I'm hoping anyway ha.
  6. Will they make the height with the staff being the dam?

  8. Yes I remember when, in order to run dogs at the trials, each entrant was required to be a member of a club that was affiliated to the Working Terrier Federation of Ireland. Despite the rampant prejudice shown against some Northern clubs, we managed, by dint of a rather classy certificate designed by myself I might add, to get ourselves voted into the Fed and were able to run our dogs. Luckily Peter Gorman, like many of the ordinary working terrier men from the south, wasn't afflicted with the same bigotry and allowed us to buy pups and adults off him. I gave a pure wheaten of Peters breeding
  9. Sunday 12th Oct, nice dig, ground was tight as bone dry, bitch was to ground for approx 2 hours (terrier furthest away)
  10. there meant to work mute.if they give any noise its frowned upon so ive been told. id have wheatens over bulls everyday of week. Why? In the days gone by, I.e. Legal days, they trialled wheatens, pits and staffs etc. they were scored on speed and noise. If the dog made noise it was disqualified. Is that your take Turkish?
  11. If the terrier is regularly worked the weight will drop - leave it to ground for a few hours next time you get on, that'll shift any excess baggage.
  12. I've seen both bull and wheatens worked, bull more aggressive and will blow out quicker than than the wheaten - wheaten seems smarter and defo quieter, in fact near mute.
