    Well Corky you sound a lot like all the rest of the fluffy butt owners. It is part of the breed you just have to accept the fact and learn to deal with it. I have owned APBT's for over 20 years and have only had 2 out of over 20 that we NOT DA. DA is curbable never currable and you can NEVER trust a Bull breed or terrier for that matter NOT to fight. It is called being resposible and not ignoring the breeds history.

    Have you tried redirecting her attention on walks? Try turning and walking the other way and when she stops screaming praise her for it verbally and give her a high reward treat, I use dehydrated liver. I have had a few dogs that are like this with other dogs they don't know, some dogs it works for others not so much. The ones that it didn't work on I would just walk them in an area that noone else was in. Yes Corky that would be the right assumption. DA in Staffies is quite natural, just like a Greyhound loves to run. Good luck! I hope you can figure it out.

    thank you. Yes he's a worker for sure, little too young right now to do much, but his heart and nose is in the right frame of mind! yes, Salford, both parents are workers, marrmotts, goffers,& coons right now. We aren't allowed to hunt fox, badgers or rabbits - well we can if it is a hare, but the dogs don't know the difference so we try to leave them alone.

    Rom Thank you.He's turned into a real nice dog.Maybe I should have just put "a dog",rather than a "Gould dog",I don't know. BUT thank you,and good luck with that cross,I don't think a lot of people realize what is going on with the coyotes.Unless you are right on the spot and a bit of a sharp shooter,I don't think most Patterdales/fells can deal with coyotes,unless they are given some type of help(my opinions).take care,uru I agree Uru. over here ours are learning from the wolves as we have 8 large packs of them and the yotes are staring to kill calves and hunt in packs which has alot o

    This is my new boy, expecting good things from him as both parents are awesome little hunters. He seems to be every eager to please and has the knack for digging so we will see what he can find. Sorry for the graphic pic, but he was helping me butcher his dinner.

    nice looking dog Uru! Hope it works well for you. We just did a breeding of pattie to a little pit bitch to hunt yotes. Got some high hopes for them.

    I've never had to buy it off of ebay, we get it from out lg animal vet you might be able to get it from a farm store too or if you know someone with racing horses. It does work wonders!!!

    for cut and torn pads we use a product called copper tox or copper care - mainly used on horses hoofs but it works well for tuffing up & healing pads

    it could help. Have you had his thyroid checked? We had an APBT here that had that issue and he had a thyroid problem.

    Have you got a product over there called DMSO? It comes in a liquid or cream. It is amazing for reducing swelling on joints and muscels. It is generally used on horses in the race track. One problem with it is that it will absorb anything it touches in to the blood stream so it is best kept under a wrap. I have heard of ppl using it with meds added to it to help with the healing process. Oh and it stinks to high heaven - some say it smells like garlic, but I don't think so cause I like the smell of garlic.

    We have a deworming protical over here. We rotate our wormers and try to never use the same one twice in a row. All of the wormers we use are for "large" animals ie horses, which you can buy at any farm store without a prescription. The only ones that we buy at the vet is drontal plus & the heartguard as it is more cost effective for us over here. Here is our deworming schedule along with the doses for each and a heartworm dose. Heartworm Protection Dosage Ivermectin: (10mg/ml), dosage of 0.1ml/5kg of body weight. Geriatrics (8 & up)May 1, July 1, Sept 1, Nov 1, Give 1 Heartguard

    a small amount of garlic isn't bad for your the dogs, it is when it is digested in large quanties that it is harmful. It is in most comerical dog foods now. Never have used acv as a flea and tick control, I have used it to help with the ph balance and I use it when I'm conditioning dogs to help get rid of the winter gut fat. We always use horse fly spray or we make up our own with a concitrated premetherin <sp> & we make up 2 different strengths one for the dogs and one for a yard & house spray as it also kills flys, wasps, and the balck widow spiders that like to make homes in

    Lean meat is the way to go to trim down a dog, but on the medical side maybe she has a slow metabolism or a thyroid problem have you had blood work done on her?

    We are supposed to have them up here too - Have yet to see any in our area, but it could be that they don't like the rocky area. I have a friend down in Oregon that hunts them with much success with one of his patties

    That pic looks like the yote's up here - they are clever critters we generally go out with 3 dogs - 1 patti and 2 APBT. I know of a few packs around our area and I wish we could hunt at night like the Americans, then we'd might have more success. But with that being said my terrain might make it a bit too difficult to hunt at night.

    If she is in good health then there shouldn't be a problem. We have bred a couple APBT's at the age of 10 & 11, she and the pups were all fine. Get a vet check done on her with some blood work. Good luck!

    Thanks every one! Me personally no as my male doesn't play well with other dogs unless it is the female patties, and our one female pattie is just too noisy to hunt in a pack - she gets jelous of the other dogs if they get a head of her and starts to bark and jump on them so we just run the APBT's in 3's - 2 females and 1 male. My boyfriend has taken his male out with a couple female APBT when they were looking for coyotes but haven't seen any signs lately

    I'm as green as the grass on this. I have seen alot of disscussions inregards to Fells and Patterdales and that they are different. Over here in Canada and the USA I have been told that they are the same thing. We have 4 adult patties all with different coats, 3 of them are black and one is a redish smut (with black hairs) - probably not the right term for coloration but that is what it would be called in the APBT world. I know it REALLY doesn't matter as long as they do their job, but what would classify them as? This is my male Solo - he has a thick wirey coat. This is my fem
