  1. Well said Moorman. Also remember that people put ( or should ) a lot of time into their pups and feeding, worming, jagging, heat lamps etc all cost money. Not everyone can do this and give them away without getting something back. I have lurcher pups at the minute and had to take my bitch for a C section, 490 bastid quid !! I am gifting 3 of them, keeping one and the others will be sold which will help pay the vet bill. I have no problem gifting a pup, but only to people I know really well and trust
  2. I had this problem with a viszla and treated as above and it never came back. Did not breed with her tho as it can be transferred to off spring but it never passed on to any of the other dogs (32 in kennels). IIRC it lives under the skin and stays there as its already in the dog, surprised it doesn't show up elsewhere on the dog tho.
  3. They fens don't worry me looks like a building site baw with the dogs in the barrel, was water in the barrel as it was by a cement mixer i would be careful doing that as cement in the water could have reacted on your dogs skin mate I had this problem before. Built some indoor kennels and my patterdale started itching and inflamed skin, then it's hair started to fall out. Good old Benzyl Benzoate sorted it out tho, hair was growing back after a few days
  4. Top stuff, next you'll be saying the garden will be done by borders
  5. Now thats a fair mix !!!! proper working dogs lol. When do the plummers arrive ?
  6. When she comes back with the object and gives you the run around don't try snatching it off her. Ignore her and walk away in the opposite direction, she will follow, it may take you a few turns, directions but she will give it up to hand when she realises its your terms only. Plenty praise when she does tho. Just my wee tuppence worth and as said don't over do it, good luck.
  7. Even the dog looks embarrassed The shepherd on our place has a few collies about him. 1 bitch can run all day in front of his quad at most speeds and 1 of the dogs (his best) has caught 2 foxes on the hill. I have said to him a few times he should put a grew to his bitch, no luck yet. She has pups at the minute to the good dog and 4 of them are light grey / silver and white, stunning. Bad timing for pups as far as the shepherds are concerned...very few look to have summer pups...busiest time of the year and a bitch rearing pups ain't much good doing and is basically viewed as doi

  9. Maybe he can't type because of his nerves
  10. When the hunting season starts again, who goes out and supports a pack with their, ahem, 'guns' to help keep vermin down ?
  11. As above really, what will you be hunting = what type lurcher you will be looking for. Is it a dog or bitch. I have a litter at the moment, 1 week old, 4 spoken for ( myself, owner of sire, 2 gifted ).
  12. Thank you for the kind welcome peeps
  13. Looks like she guards the keys to the garden equipment too lol. She looks like she'll be a goodun, all the best with her
  14. I'm new to posting on here but been reading topics for a while now and I have to agree with this. Not saying everyone does not put time into their dogs but the bickering and pettiness is beyond me. People outside and against our love of the game reading some of the posts must love it, there are more than enough people against us without all the 'in-fighting'. Jealousy is a bad thing, I wish people would just accept what they have in their dogs and be happy, at the end of the day your next dog could be better or worse than the one you have now. Enjoy it !
  15. Bell. Then you have Bell, man (you) and Flint, if you have them on a lead either side of you !
  16. The last time I used small jack I removed the middle seat cushion from a settee and stood the bitch there, the dog had no problem then. PS let them get frisky outside first as the dog will do a bit of pissing before the event I always go by the signs the bitch gives off with a days gap between ties. Good luck
  17. I keep mine around half charge all the time as said above, you never know when you might need it. New covers would be brill tho, they can get a bit 'rough'.
  18. Just want to say hello to everyone. I have been lurking around for a while now and thought it was time to join up. Interests are shooting, gundogs, lurchers & terriers, fishing, all things country really. Lots of good info on here and a bit of piss taking, looking forward to joining in .
