  4. That was the last day for us on Thurs ...we never had any decent rain from May until Sept....there was not a decent run until the start of sept with the nets finishing and the water temp dropping we had 45 for that week but apart from that it was the poorest season I can remember I never had my first fish until July and had nothing of size my biggest was 12lb and only 20 for the season all on fly...lots of tiny grilse early summer which imo should be killed ...never had the double hander out till the last few weeks as there wasn't enough water ...never seen the river so low for so long .....a
  5. this is the type I keep hardly what you would call a heavy type 28" and under 70lb and was rarely straight lined by his quarry ...he was put over his sister who is around the 26 " and I kept a bitch back that is around the 24"-25" mark so genetically she is as close to her parents as you can get but is smaller but she is faster than her sire and dam so I still have to disagree that because a dog is bigger its faster and I can assure you I have seen the right thing
  6. totally disagree just cause a dog is tall doesn't mean its fast some of the fastest dogs ive seen are around the 26 mark That's why I said, all things being equal. There's going to be 20" dogs that are faster than 27" dogs but they won't be equals. With the greatest respect, you ain't seen enough if they're the fastest dogs you've seen. It comes down to physics. If you've got 2 dogs with exactly the same muscle to bone to weight ratio and the exact same ratio of length to height but one is 24" and one is 28" then the 28" dog will be significantly faster than the 24" one. There's no denyi

  8. Im surprised your sober enough to count to 7 As for running through crops some stuff up here is not cut until Oct some years One of the best slips I saw was through wheat the advantage is definitely in favour of the quarry through long stuff with the style of running between dog and deer
