  1. Looking closely at it, i think it actually says, galgo x saluki . , my mistake ..it ran well.
  2. would be interesting to know how many salukis ran in the various single handed comps, prob totally outnumbered in all Very few pures did or get run in the big comps plenty of saluki x,s but these comps are primarily numbers on the doors rather than "coursing ability". The number of lads that actually work pures regularley is very small compared to other running dogs but to witness a pacy saluki work and course game is truly a thing to behold and that in UK is one of the reasons the saluki lovers have them certainly not for matching. Well said, spot on lads.
  3. Must be hard running and turning on that hot sand after desert hares...!
  4. In my passed experience, of keeping both the pure greyhound and pure saluki for hunting, the saluki allways came out on top, as regards avoiding injuries and death. Greyhounds are so much more prone to injuries and getting killed then salukis. The pure saluki in my opinion, is a very tough robust dog, i seen them run on ground that would smash a greyhound and come out good.
  5. Hope she has a great retirement , she is a lovely looking bitch, is she pure?
  6. I can't understand that logic. I'm going overboard here but would you enjoy watching a collie course a hare knowing full well it won't catch it? No. As i am not interested in collies. Just pure salukis. I like the way they do things, as said, not for everyone, but just a few. I have used one as a allrounder and the lad that has him now, is doing the same with him. Pic of him below. Even if its a bit of bushing and ferreting, i would be happy with, as i wont get back into the dogs, as i have done before, but that is just me.

  8. I have to agree with articgun, i love to see pures run, just for the fun of it. When i get one, in the future, even if it does not catch much, i would be happy, as i like the breed a lot. I got out the dog game 2 years ago. Don't think i will ever get back into it again big time and a pure saluki as a pet/small time worker would suit me just fine, to me they are robust, agile and real clever characters with amazing memory.
  9. Wouldn't they make nice allrounders anywhere? Not trying to clever, just interested. Most places around the uk have thousands of acres of land broken up into smaller tracts of land and fields etc Id say they would. with the correct upbringing entering ect Sometimes in a litter, you get some more like the greyhound, along with greyhound running problems, but if you can pick one that has best of both worlds, it should be a handy dog i reckon.
  10. Your first x is a gem Jigsaw. Know a man that breeds the odd litter near me out of mike, if rared right, they come good. Nice allrounders for ireland.
  11. Yeah, seemed a bit crazy. Prehaps they found a dead fox and made the story up..
  12. Wonder why this fox attacked the women below ? Sounds like rabies, but their is meant to be no rabies over here? http://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/national/irishman-killed-a-fox-by-stamping-it-to-death-after-it-attacked-his-wife/ar-BBxF39l?li=BBr5KbJ&ocid=mailsignout

  15. Looks a very usefuk dog him jigsaw. Is he a straight sal/grey? yeah, genuine 1st x ,dam pure saluki, sire a coursing greyhound, and the weirdthing is I bought him from a young girl that did a hell of a lot of everything with the dam... I remember the litter and the write up you did when you got the pup, it was good read and you did well with the pup over the years, fair play. I liked the dam very much, she sounded a useful sort, do you still have pics of her by any chance jigsaw ?
