I never shot any doe's this morning , they all had fawns at foot that I think will benefit from another month with their mums . The plan to sit up tonight was a wash out , literally , it chucked down , thunder , lightning the whole lot .So I packed in & went home ,lit the woodburner & had a cold beer ....but did shoot these two this morning ...no great story they were poor looking prickets & happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time ..!

When you start filming the harsh realities of war in such detail its bound to come back & bite you ...I'm sure the Taliban solders have the same problem , although I doubt they would overstep the mark & shoot one of our injured lads , & if they did they would surly be held to account the same as this lad ...my arse ...who ever put this lad in the frame I hope you sleep well you tosser ..

Hutchey ..My master plan for this evening went to a bag of shite...moved the seat to were they were going last night only for it to lag down with rain , thunder lightning the full works !! Sat in the motor drinking coffee before getting out to retrieve the seat getting drenched in the process ...cant complain shot a couple of prickets this morning , will post a couple of pics later ..

Just an update ....back out on the does this afternoon , after wasting a whole morning waiting for the BT engineer to fix our storm damaged line , surprisingly he never showed!!! .Anyway managed to get out & put a portable seat in position for later & then made my way round to the valley , quite a few deer showing & after about half an hour managed to knock a very poor looking yearling over .A quick gralloch showed her to have a pretty heavy infestation of fluke, dragging her to one side for pick up later I went up hill & along the top to glass below ,seeing deer wasn't to mu

I needed to make a start on some does so rain or no rain I was going out .Up at 5am & a quick look out confirmed the worst , it was chucking down but I had every thing loaded already so a quick coffee & into some wet weather gear I was on my way .The farm is only 15 min away so I was there in plenty of time for first light ,sitting in the motor with the rain lashing down I must confess the thought did cross my mind to turn around & head for home but as the light began to appear the rain eased slightly so making sure all the optics were covered out came the quad & of I went .

Had a couple of goes at them & as you say hard work , I start on the fallow does this week on one of my places , access is very limited due to various events they have on their so it will be long days this week & with a lot of cover still up trying to get them in the woodland is going to be a problem but hopefully I should get one or two ..

Just had a call from my farmer , it was shot by the other farmer 40 min after I left exactly were I see it last so I am well pleased .By all accounts it was lying down unable to stand & all but dead ...

Owen i'll be surprised if it lasts much longer ,this isn't the one we see , this has the hall marks of a road traffic accident , its back leg is shattered . Watched it for 3 or 4 minutes crossing the road & it was really struggling .Went round to the farmers place & told him where it was he said he would have a look "later" ..Hopefully he does but wouldn't want to stake my life on it ..Will still check later but its a long shot (no pun intended)

Seen the injured Buck this morning .....standing in the middle of the a272 just of property ,leaving rather than coming on , busted back leg it is in very poor condition & needs putting down asap ...
